From 2008 to 2012, I owned an Invacare TDX SP power wheelchair. in short, it was unreliable junk, and in 2012, insurance replaced it with a Sunrise/Quickie S-636, which has been *much* more reliable, and that still serves me today. In the 4 years that I owned the Invacare TDX SP wheelchair, it needed: - 2 complete (left and right side) motor/gearbox unit replacements. - 3 motor coupling replacements. - Numerous caster bearing replacements, where the caster would begin to flutter uncontrollably, interfering with steering. - Once, one of the defective motor/gearbox units actually leaked nasty gear oil all over my apartment when its casing began to separate! - Once, one of the motor connections became dislodged from the brain, which caused me to stop dead on a sidewalk. I won't say that the replacement Quickie power wheelchair has been *perfect*, but it has had a hell of a lot less real problems. Except for two times where it had serious issues, the rest of its issues were issues that I could get fixed in a week or two, ie, not mobility stopping serious.

I had an Invacare TDX SP for six years. It was embarrassingly noisy off and on. The casters were torn from the rims on several occasions. Two pairs of replacement batteries lasted exactly 90 days - warranty expired. The new model looks very similar to the first; waterfall armrest pads come loose...then they loosen more. Still using round hollow bars to attach waterfall armrests - good luck. I'm bein' friendly here!

Whew! I was just about to purchase one until I came across this video. For the Government to have to step in, says a lot. But it mean they really tried and seem to have successfully cornered the market. Then it seem they wouldn't make parts they were responsible for. Whomever is the CEO, they are a horrible leader, and need to be let go. Horrible!

i have a tdx sp2, four months old, not taking a charge to battery..any help?

You goofed. Call Invacare and your vendor until you get satisfaction.

A miserable ride and lots of strange noises...redesign the 'Total Driving Experience' with a working drive wheel suspension, dump the cheesy armrest for great ones, find a way to keep caster tires on their rims. Bought a 'Mariner' commode chair made by Invacare just because 'it' had a tough name...junk in a year. lol

Hi, I'm sorry you were disappointed. This video series was meant to give each manufacturer a chance to discuss their wheelchairs in depth. If you look between the videos, you will see that each rep from each company was asked the same questions, and you will get a better sense of the comparative aspect of the series. To compare all the features of all 8 wheelchairs in a single video was too overwhelming for viewers, so we decided to give each chair their own spotlight. This was in no way a paid endorsement of any of the products, however, after reviewing them all, we definitely had a few "winners" which stood out among the rest. Hopefully by watching the series you will be able to see for yourself. Thanks for viewing!
