Thank you all! As someone who, in my early college years, found economics the most boring subject on earth, taught by the most boring people on earth, it's good to know that at least occasionally it's not quite that bad these days. :) Your comments mean a very, very great deal to me. Again, thanks. RS

After commenting 2 to 3 instructors as you don't know how to teach, Sir I must say, you made me understand elasticity at 1am before my makeup final exam. You are awesome!!

I'm a junior in high school and we're talking about this in my econ class and I honestly had NO CLUE what was any of this meant because my teacher didn't explain it well. So basically i would just like to say thank you for posting this because it helped me out SO MUCH. I still don't completely understand but this definitely helped

Very clear and understandable! Great way of thinking. If I was a landlord I would probably be doing the same to make more $. I like your idea of making smaller bedrooms to make more $ even if people have to sleep hanging from their feet. :)

i have a question in my economics test that says " show that any upward sloping straight line supply curve that cuts the horizontal axis is elastic along its entire length", which is pretty much the exact opposite of what you said. now i am very confused

Hey i have a question. For the math of elasticity of supply/demand i understand how to perform this. what i don't understand is why the denominator for equations of both percent change in Quantity and percent change in Price must use an average?
@MathsHistoryHelp
@MathsHistoryHelp 6 жыл бұрын
Sean Zadeh because the reference point is changing , its like calculating percent change from a different base or starting point. Do not mistake elasticity for slope. It's related, but not the same.

Do you think that the labour supply of ‘second wage earners’ in families, is likely to be more or less elastic than the labour supply of ‘primary wage earners’? can You please explain it to me ?
@TheWyvern66
@TheWyvern66 10 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delay. There was a time when a single income could support a family comfortably in the US. Not any more for most families, so I view the secondary supply as fairly inelastic - i.e., a drop in secondary wages would not diminish the amount of workers in that group seeking employment. RS

Your calculation is totally wrong. Percentage change in price = (300-100)/100 Percentage change in quantity =(200-100)/100
