Thanks for posting this episode. After reading Kathleen Bradley's tell-all book, I can now visibly see the tension between the models at the episode's close. As Dian tries savor her final airtime, Holly isn't having it, physically moving around and in front of her to eclipse her spotlight. Holly has that strong Texan tenacity, which must have helped her to win her lawsuit after a 10-year fight. Janice withdrew behind it all, and poor Kathleen must have felt like the mediator, especially after only being on the show for two years. It was all very sad considering how magical it was for a good period of time. I guess it's a lesson about being convinced by a beautiful facade, despite how dysfunctional it may be in reality. That said, I will always adore the 70s and 80s of TPIR!

They rarely have older contestants nowadays. It's more like a college frat party now, but yet they still air commercials geared towards an older generation audience. An era died for me was in 2000 when Janice and Kathleen were replaced with new models. Once 2001 came, all younger looking models came.

It was when Dian and Holly were fired. The kill shot was when Janice and Kathleen were let go.

Definitely. I was a male high school senior in 2000-2001 and would have been in the age group the show would have been trying to target with the younger models, but I lost interest in the show when Janice and Kathleen were gone. I grew up with them and Holly and Dian and the show without them just wasn't the same. I thought it was mostly an age thing at the time. I didn't know about all of the behind-the-scenes bitterness that was going on in the '90s. Made me sad to learn about it.

I was all right until Nikki Ziering was gone and left but I solved that problem by committing to watching the view . I had no issues though with either Claudia or Heather

At least Dian was one of the few that ever got to say goodbye to the fans of the show. Like with many fans, we were all extremely hurt, that Janice and Kathleen, as well as Holly and Nikki, and a few others, never got that opportunity. To this day, they still deserve a lot of respect, than what was given to them, just when they were about to depart from the show.

I miss Dian, one of the original Beauties of the show. I grew up with this show since I was being sick from school or having a Summer break. Janice and Holly are the remaining Beauties of the show. I'm so sad that she has let go from TPIR.

It was disgrace. Vanna White was making millions while the price is right models were making 100, 000 a year. I miss Dian and all the original models. There was never a proper hand off. I stopped watching when Dian left. It felt like a death in the family or when someone goes missing in your family.

Pursue other interests huh? LOL. Yeah, like suing his ass off. This for me is when the show ended. It just didn't feel the same after Dian left. It really didn't feel the same when Johnny Olson passed way, but I continued watching for a few more years. For those of you who actually watched the show and were fans of the show, from mid '70s up until this time, you know that Bob Barker was a completely different person. He didn't have any control over the show, he was just the host and I truly enjoyed watching him. I was a fan. But when he became executive producer, well things changed. His ego, his personality changed. The legal matters of the show overrided the actual show. And it just wasn't enjoyable anymore.

I totally agree. Once she left it was kinda over. The death nail for me was when all the women were let go by 2000. It is a disgrace! Dian, Holly, Janice and Kathleen were like our older or younger sisters to us all. TPIR and Bob Barker should be ashamed at they treated everyone. I honestly believe Barker harassed Dian. He was always calling her Baby this and that. He is a horn dog.

@Jeff Keyes I kinda feel too, similar to Kenny Rogers, that after he had his facelift surgery not too long after this time, that changed him some too. Some of the warmth in him in his face and personality became different when compared to his earlier days. And I say that as someone who grew up watching his final years from Season 30 onward as a high school and then early community college student, and who idolized him at the time. I ate, slept and breathed him and the show, anyone who knew me then in or out of school knew it. But now when I look back, knowing what I know about his off-camera antics today some 15 years since he retired almost and just knowing where the show was at its' peak long before I really got heavily into it, I view it and him differently. I even prefer Drew's era in ways to him that way, at least compared to those final years, much more a family feel and Drew in general is a lot more selfless of a guy than Bob was. He's more than willing to share the spotlight with both his co-stars and contestants alike, where Bob especially in those last 5 years or so, was not. Remember how poorly he treated Rod after Season 30 and after his cancer issues had started? Doesn't speak well of him at all by that alone, nevermind everything that came before that.

12/13/2000 was the last taped Janice and Kathleen episode. The 12/14/2000 was taped before the 12/13 episode, as it an episode rescheduled from 10/18 because of a CBS News special report. Holly's last show aired 10/27/95.

Barker's Beauty Kathleen Bradley has written her memoirs called "Backstage at the Price is Right". I highly recommend it if you were a fan of the show when Dian was on. Lots of juicy gossip!

I think that's just the point where Bob's ego got the best of him, but I consider classic TPIR to have ended after Season 30. Seasons 29 and 30 did have regular models consistanly on each show, the classic orange and purple set with white doors, and Rod still appeared on camera.

Nothing against Drew Carey, but this show went to shit when Bob Barker left!! He may be a sleazeball, but he's the greatest game show host in television history in my opinion 📺

I agree. Most geniuses are difficult narcissists, but they produce extraordinary results. Barker was one of them.

In addition to that, this "Showcase" round where Disney promoted the 1993 re-release of "Snow White". Wow! I hope that every Disney or a Princess fan would give a shot at it. What's next, a "Showcase" about "Cinderella", "Sleeping Beauty", "The Little Mermaid", "Beauty and the Beast", "Tangled", "The Princess and the Frog", "Sophia the First"? You'll be the judge.

Obviously, now that Disney owns ABC and pretty much anything else they can get their hands on; there's no way that there could be another instance of using the film clips of Snow White on a themed-showcase like this again (this airing also coincided with the film's final theatrical re-release before being released to home video the next year).

Holly's last episode was on October 27th, 1995 and Janice and Kathleen's last episode was on December 13th, 2000 and Claudia's last appearance was on March 27th, 2004

I agree that Bob's ego got the best of him after the mid-1990s, only to get worse after Season 30. But I think Season 30 should have been Bob's last season, because I feel that even after Claudia Jordan and Heather Kozar were hired as permanent Barker Beauties, I didn't sense any connection with between him, the rest of the cast, of the cast or the contestants. On the other hand, I believe the show is doing much better now than it did during the last five or ten years with Bob.

***** Bob also got power hungry and won a power struggle over the executive producer, thus becoming executive producer in 1988. The final straw was in 2006, when a former production staffer was fired by Bob Barker because of race and she filed a discrimination lawsuit against Barker and FremantleMedia. Barker was forced into retirement at that time because it made CBS look really bad.

Bob got to be bitter when the new models came and the audience got to be younger and younger. He couldn't relate to the college kids like Drew and George can now. He would've probably disliked the thought of pregnant models and male models on now. Although, I wouldn't mind having more older contestants on this show.

I considered classic TPiR to have ended the day Kathleen and Janice were let go. The show sucked after that--the models kept switching, they kept making time cuts so Bob could never talk to the models (or contestants, really), and that's what made the show. Drew's bastardized version... don't even get me started.

When Dian and Holly were fired was the end for me. The kill shot was when Kathleen and Janice were let go. I can't stand watching the show as I feel like a love one is missing. It hurts to watch because the way the girls were treated by the company and Bob Barker. It is like looking at a Nazi Death Camp. You can't get excited knowing people suffered there.

Speaking of Bob's egos, it got worse even more when he took away Rod Roddy's camera time after they got an argument over money because Rod Roddy demanded to be paid the same way as the models but Barker retaliated by giving Roddy scale paid. And starting in 2002 a year before Rod died he had only one camera time. After that Roddy was never seen on camera again not even leading up to death. No disrespect to Bob but he had a better relationship with Johnny Olson than he did with Rod in the later years imo. Besides Bob and Johnny Olson were good friends just as Rod was with Peter Tamarken, Gene Wood with Richard Dawson, Bert Convy, and Ray Combs, Jay Stewart with Monty Hall, Kenny Williams with Wink Martindale and Peter Marshall, Charlie O'Donnell with Pat Sajak, Don Pardo with Art Fleming and Bill Cullen, and even Johnny Gilbert with Alex Trebek.

A big production with Dian and they did the same with Chantel and that was also a production because the only difference was that Chantel left after day 1 of season 28 . and it was weird because I thought until I just was watching and Bob said that Dian would still be on other taped shows after this video but what else was making me curious is what video shows Bob bringing in Dian,s replacement Gena Lee Nolin . ? Because Chantel replaced Holly

Dian has quite literally disappeared. Perhaps after Bob dies Dian, Janice, Kathleen and Holly can come together. Not to trash Bob, but just to see what they’ve been doing. I feel like they were not given fair treatment when they left.

Holly and Dian supposedly can't stand each other, so I wouldn't anticipate a reunion with both of them together. Janice was quite professional and got along fine with everyone, not taking any sides on the issues Holly or Dian had. In fact, towards the end Holly and Dian refused to even stand NEXT TO each other. I just stumbled on a clip of Safe Crackers where Bob becomes concerned about Dian's limping while she opens the safe, and momentarily stops to ask what happened to her. Dian explained what happened, and Holly, probably not realizing she's on camera, looks noticeably a little ticked off while waiting for Bob to get on with the game. If you watch TPIR in the late 80s-early 90s, Dian is making eyes at Bob, and doing other things too to get his attention. She just developed this attraction to him and for that moment, he was enjoying it... however it didn't last very long. Whatever happened can only be speculation, but Bob realized he was being taken advantage of, and broke off their fling. After that moment, Bob rarely if ever interacted with the models again.

@@whewfan You should get Kathleen Bradley Book about the stuff behind the scenes. You will not believe what she wrote. Amazing book. I saw a recent pic of Dian, she is still smoking HOT!! Kathleen looks amazing and Janice looks pretty good although she had a face lift and you can't recognize her.

Also, we have all watched Holly on the Today show 10 years ago. She has gained about 70 pounds. I am sure she has gained even more now.
