Here is the finale of my marathon of "The Price is Right". I have plenty more episodes, though, so fans shouldn't worry. This episode comes from February 4, 1980. Bob Barker hosts. (c) Fremantle Media

The young woman who won the car is me!! That was a few years ago... Also it has the classic Mean Joe Green commercial for Coke.

You’re 6 years old, you feel a little bit off, you’ve got the sniffles, your mom tells you to lay down on the couch and she brings you some hot and tasty chicken soup, you turn on the TV and this show is on. Good times.

This was the first day TPIR moved to 11am/10am CT where it remains to this day. CBS had previously aired it at 10:30-11:30am ET with Love of Life at 11:30am. Johnny Olsen now mentions Search For Tomorrow one half hour from now because the Noon/11am timeslot was now designated for local news with Y&R airing from 1-2pm at this time. Later in 1981, Y&R would begin two feeds at Noon/11am CT and 12:30/11:30am CT to accommodate both time zones for Noon newscasts.

These late-70s episodes are such a treat to watch! The production values and contestant attitudes are vastly improved over the more awkward early-70s episodes, while still providing a fun glimpse at pricing-game past.

I love the commercials here. Including the legendary Mean Joe Greene coke commercial. Yeah this was about 2 years before I was born, but it is a huge time capsule. So thanks for uploading this, I really do enjoy these.

I watched way too much TV as a kid. I remember all these ads. A Sandwich is a Sandwich, but a Manwich is a Meal!!! And I can't believe they stretched this show into a full hour.

28:42 - the infamous product from Procter and Gamble. The product worked too well, unintentionally, which caused severe health problems for some women who used it. The FDA released a report on it in the summer of 1980 and it was immediately pulled off the shelves, along with the "two ingredients" mentioned in the commercial never being used in any product in that area again.

That real fur coat at the end is surprising. This must be before Bob Barker went all-out when it comes to animal rights. At least you get to see Dian Parkinson is something very skimpy BEFORE the fur coat and after the oversized dress.

I guess since CBS stations could air Young and the Restless at that time at Noon or 1pm ET, that is why Johnny Olsen says "Stay tuned for Search for Tomorrow one half hour from now on most of these CBS stations." There's no mention of Y&R being next at Noon ET.
@beebsbubbles8 жыл бұрын
+Johnothy Sweat This is a rerun, I believe. Y&R didn't expand to 1-hour until February 4, 1980, and it looks like it had JUST expanded at that point, so this episode re-aired around that time.

Does anyone know how I can get a copy of a show that was taped on October 31, 1978 (second taping)? It aired in Feb or March of 1979. My name was Cinde Robinson at that time when I was called down by none other than Johnny Olson. :)

Uh-oh. That might make it hard to find because Bob is so ashamed of all the episodes featuring fur coats. I just wish GSN or Buzzr and Bob could come to an agreement where Bob tapes a disclaimer of how he regrets the giving away of fur coats. But Bob is either too proud or arrogant to do that.
@cinded54808 жыл бұрын
Thank you Andrew. I played the Shell Game, 3 chips in front of 4 shells but lost. :( Do you know who to order a copy of this episode from?
@cinded54808 жыл бұрын
To get up on stage I bid $1,200 on a Yashika movie sound camera and projector. The prize package I lost in the Shell Game was kitchen appliances: stove, dishwasher, fridge and I think microwave or trash compacter. I was also the top contestant for that taping because everyone lost their games too.

WOW, {54:08} indeed Johnny Oleson! Definitely my fave moment of this episode ;-) Also, how about Bob being so hard on himself on his putting and then making a real ruckus on that shaggy surface. Yeah, it seems uneven, Bob, but in the pros, ya gotta factor in uneven angles and speeds if you wanna score the bird! And in retrospect, I loved how the winner slightly adjusted her score @52:32 and it proved all the difference. She clearly meant the first figure but thought better for it and won it on that last second correction

I don't know about anyone else, but from going back watching older episodes of T.P.I.R. with a "singnificantly younger" Bob Barker, it seems to me that the suits he wore on the show looked a lot better then that they did in his latter years. I guess when he got old (80 years plus), he didn't care how he looked then.😂😂😂
