I just don't get it. What about asian cinema? I mean there are literally millions of movies from like South Korea, China, and Japan that are being ignored. South Korea has some of the greatest movies I've ever seen. It's already there and it's being ignored because they aren't speaking English. That's like Russian immigrants waiting for a "crazy rich russians" movie instead of watching movies from russia.

@@arthurwild6563 maaaaaybe because they don't understand Korean, Chinese etcetc? And i mean, who is born in a different country of their parents/grandparents usually didn't feel "represented" by those film, because is made for the people who are in those places, meanwhile second/third etcetc generation of immigrants usually are more represented by people with the same background. For example, shang chi is a film made for asian who were born in america, or in western society in general.

@@arthurwild6563 and ofc if the number are small, slowly will be the representation, but it's also important to a country to remember that those people are real. I think my country isn't very progressive also becouse some themes, like racism or homophobia, aren't touched at all in TV series. And yes, younger generation have acces to internet, but it's not enough to me.

Kevin Zhang I don’t know if you noticed, but movie is a form of art. And art has been a tool to convey social messages throughout time. Even movies can be used to convey messages. I’d say, go look at French films. I’m recently being acquainted to them through my French class.They have a lot of movies dealing with many current social issues, including representation and minority issues. And many of them are great works.

Remy Lebeau 1. Taiwan is the other name for the Republic of China. The whole world is having this dilemma of having 2 countries called China, the Republic of China and the People’s Republic of China. Both claiming to be the real China. 2. Nobody deserves representation is only true if all are treated similarly in the first place regardless of race or other identifying factors. That way, only talent and character can be your only judge. However, I doubt that is the case today. 3. What do you think he is doing? He made a Hollywood movie filled with Asian-Americans and even actors from Asian countries. He just wanted more filmmakers and even the industry to allow for more Asian-American films. He’s pushing for Asian-American actors and actresses to rise to fame with these movies, just like their Asian counterparts in Asia. And to be fair, given the traditional importance of practical jobs like medicine or business in Asian-American households, the lack of representation in media was partly their (Asian-American’s) fault, though I noticed that there seems to be a change amongst the younger people towards the arts and acting.
