The word soccer was derived from "association" football. And no, the word's usage stopped AGES ago. Just because people understood "soccer" doesn't imply it isn't football. Football is called football because we kick the ball with our FOOT. American Football is Hand Egg Ball because you use your hands to throw a ball that's shaped like an egg.

No it is football. The fa cup was fomed in the 1800s as the football association cup. I'm so glad america hasn't won any world cups (becuase they are terrible at football) .
