Love it! The main guy did a great job, but the original had a voice that could move mountains. I feel they should have found a stronger singer - but I do think they did a great job overall. Listen to the original!

Same, Brian Stokes Mitchell not only resembled Danny Glover's voice , but he also moved with the orchestral and the choir elevated the song as a whole.

This is a musical production with performers with amplifiers on their faces. It would sound more powerful if it was 1 person performing the song through a microphone. But then the ambient sounds on the stage would be drowned out. The lead in this song is projecting very loudly into the crowd.

He did a nice job, but it's hard not to compare to Brian Stokes Mitchell. That said, Brian's version is from a recording studio, who knows how many takes and edits. Still, feel like the actor was directed to make it more 'conversational' which takes some of the air out of it, and it seems to have changed the tempo. You can hear at parts that the actor has the range and vocal power, but doesn't make full use of it - likely the director's fault.

My sister said the same. When I went to see it, some of us met the cast for touch tour (touch tour is for visually impaired/blind, so they described whats on stage, touch items and get to know main characters voices).I recognised the voice but couldn't put my finger on who it was until he said and then knew who it was.

I cannot, CANNOT!! get over how amazing the unnamed character extras in the dance number, seems like two main lead/front dancers did; EVERYBODY in the supporting dance cast did phenomenal but I specifically thought I saw some chemistry between those two so I slowed it down and watched at .75 and .5 speed and I cant get over the behind the scenes romance and joy and friendship and trust and enthusiasm of how when the crazy exertion part of the dance number was done, and the ladies were dipped: the head two- he dipped her a little extra and gave her an actual KISS kiss. My romantic mind is forming all sorts of dancer performer head canons lol, I love them ❤

That's when you know you have a well trained supporting cast. An audience member might look away from the front stage but the background characters will always give the audience something to see. I think being supporting cast might even be more fun than being a lead😅

He does a nice job, but I feel the song doesn’t have the gravity that Brian Stokes Mitchell brings to it. This song is such a turning point for Moses. This kind of feels like a comedy montage, instead of an emotional growth montage.

@hmsealey3243 8 ай бұрын
In all fairness, in the film it's a montage to show time passing as he finds his place with these people, to his eventual marriage to Tzipporah. Harder to do that in a stage version.

that opt up at the end is brilliant. truly a wonderful sound. the joy and little moments of characterization that are allowed to breathe on stage are such a treat given that the montage of moses and tzipporah falling in love obviously can't be given the same composition from the movie.

I have to say,nothing beats the original version by Brian Stokes Mitchell. This performer is not bad, but this song requires some way much stronger pipes. I know it is West End, but imagine Victor Garber as Jethro, how cool would be that ? He would sing it with a bang! That said, we need him as Jethro one day on Broadway, had the musical come there.

Sorry, but I've seen several numbers from this musical and I'm afraid it doesn't do any justice to the film. Costume design is AWEFUL. That Middle Eastern vibe is lost by how fast the song goes. This is such a pivotal song in the story. This is essential to understand what Moses becomes and there's literally nothing here that tells me how Moses grows as a character. Oh... what! Yes, he learns some Macarena steps from Jethro 🤦🏻‍♂

just my opinion as a huge Schwartz fan and a fan of the film .... this is honestly TERRIBLE. Moses is acting like a paranoid scared child which was not the case in the film. The chief is especially terrible and not only does he not match the physicality / design of what you expect from the original character but his voice is nowhere near as powerful as it should be for the role. Commmmmmon guys, Prince of Egypt is a CLASSIC AND EPIC TALE and this is just disrespectful to the original. I'm happy to see there is a stage production but this pales in comparison to what it could be with better casting, singing, staging and choreography. Also....seeing the microphone cheaply taped to the dancers exposed back is a total mood kill -- takes you out of the illusion that is supposed to be professional theatre.

This version of Jethro has no semblance of pacing, tempo, and talk-sings more than he actually sings. His heart isn't in it and you can feel that. It comes off as insanely soulless compared to a freaking cartoon that could convey more emotion with it's message. This performance was rigid and AWFUL. This Jethro also goes up and down at weird parts that don't even make sense to do so. I get making the song your own but...he didn't. He just made it garbage.
