I was surprised KZfaq did not have my favorite part of the Princess Bride, so I decided to add it myself. I just love the whole "dear god what IS that thing". When I first saw the movie I couldn't stop laughing at that. I also love the Battle of Wits, and Indigo Montoya in general, really The Princess Bride is one of my favorite movies!

Moral of the story: fear is the most powerful weapon. Westly learned it from Roberts, it's not what you can do: It's what they think your capable of.
@ryanashford718
@ryanashford718 2 жыл бұрын
I had a similar story with what I learned from a fellow security guard, he taught me that the best way to get someone to back down or to instill fear is to make your warning quick, but clear and full of conviction. Monologuing usually does nothing, and can often be seen as an empty threat. That's part of why the prince kept telling him he was bluffing. It was only until he got up and told him to drop his sword without even blinking that the prince sat down immediately.

Honestly, I think that this is one of Cary Elwes' best moments in acting. He shows true talent in this scene. He stares at him so intently, and he never takes his eyes off him, he keeps the exact same expression on his face, showing everyone watching how cruel(for good reason) he can be. His acting is amazing, I can't really do a proper job explaining what i mean. However I hope you get the idea.

i_ ship_it I was in a theatre type club as a kid and we were doing auditions and this was the scene, when we were figuring out the roles for that time everyone was using a script. But I however recited the whole insult from Wesley’s side and next thing you know the entire room just goes silent
