I'm not usually a theorist, but I think the old lady booing Buttercup was Buttercup in 40 years or so. Hear me out: I think that Buttercup came to the princess Buttercup in her nightmares as a warning to her for what would've happened if she chose Humperdinck instead of Wesley. But that's just my opinion.

I remember a couple times switching this movie on on HBO (way back, about a couple years after it came out) and turned it on right at the start of this scene, and me saying like "Hey! Turned it on right at the 'boo! booo!' part", but then found out it was the scene near the beginning where Buttercup really walks out to the trumpet fanfare (right before riding off and meeting Andre the giant, Wallace Shawn, etc.). Both scenes start out exactly the same way, except the only difference is they announced her as Princess Buttercup in the real scene early on, and as Queen Buttercup in her dream scene (since she already married in her dream)

It’s the saddest thing when I can’t even watch The Princesses Bride without thinking of her… I just feel so sorry for them both. And so many around them feel the same way as I. Neither of them having anyone else, so why not shack up with the other in their on-and-off again, loveless, passionless relationship for no other reason than time passing by and them both getting older. They both know it too… If they can’t have true love, what is destined to be theirs right now, then why not settle for seconds and share their bed with their best friend? Everyone knows it, sees it… But no one will breathe so much as a word. Sigh… That still won’t keep the day from coming though, when the resentment will begin to set in with the sensation of being stuck, the both of them aching so desperately for more than the other is meant to give, waking each day to someone who is no more than a friend and how the time they were both so worried about being wasted, is just that, wasted. She was supposed to want more for herself… They both are supposed to want more for themselves. But they always just settle for what is there. And I just long to be happy for her, that she is branching out, but cannot be because she isn’t even adventuring on her own two feet and then the time, the months, the years that will just go by until they both realize their mistake. I remembered this scene in a much more hilarious way. The queen walked up the balcony while the crowd cheered for her, but then suddenly, the old hag just interrupts everyone with her booing, and isn't even as involved with anyone as she was here, she was just going: BOO! BOO! SHE'S UGLY! SHE'S NO QUEEN! BOO! BOO! while everyone was just staring at her, and I especially remembered her having some POOR action with her boos.
