The Prisoner RARE Patrick McGoohan Interview, features Patrick speaking to Chris Rodley in the USA. It took Chris quite an effort to interview Pat and his first attempt broke down due to various reasons. Undeterred, he managed to salvage a short film from that initial meeting and this low-key chat, with little audio and bad natural lighting, remains largely unseen.
Although the distributors of The Prisoner box set have now ceased to be, one can still buy the DVD from various outlets, including auction style websites. We can recommend the full 6 disk box set, with many extras and history of Portmeirion. Be seeing you...

Colour of the sets really made it with the precise speaking of No 6 and others. No rushing things, and I listened to him, last night, on another video and wise, what a wise man, a deep thinking man, and what he said of the end of the world was amazing, how man will one day press the button because what man makes he uses

The entire series was one huge esoteric allegory….in fact, for anyone who has been seeking ‘truth’ (whatever that is, lol!) surely the very last episode makes it absolutely clear, even though they veil it with absurdity and peculiarity. I’ve been scrolling through some commentary/discussion videos, but that aspect of it seems to have gone completely over their heads. Does anyone know of any channels discussing the occult/esoteric side of the prisoner series? 😁👍🏻

I was fortunate enough to be able to watch the prisoner once it came out. I was in my mid teens and old enough to understand it's importance. Most anyone who's anyone is a prisoner. Little help from our music stars, i'm afraid.

Brilliant. I remember seeing the man stepping out of a department store in Westwood Village back in the late 1980's. It was all I could do to NOT wave and say; "Be Seeing You"

A wonderful find - thank you for putting this interview online for posterity. Many actors and writers want to move away from their earlier work however, even though Patrick was always a reluctant interviewee (preferring his performances to speak for themselves), he was still interested in sharing his thoughts on The Prisoner.

An excellent production of that 1984 interview. I remember the original broadcast of this interview in " Six of one- The Prisoner File" on channel 4. I didn't like the way it had put together, even though it had everyone connected to The Prisoner interviewed. I wish this video had been broadcast back then. Well done. Bcnu.

Mesmorised. Such a brilliant interview. I have seen a few but this is no doubt the best in terms of his responses. So, my mum and dad let me stay up to watch the original series (they thought It was nonsense and was not good for me). Visited Port M last year, now ticked off my bucket list. For those who have not been, you really must go to see it for yourselves. What a genius man.

Patrick just oozes charisma and class... He was an outstanding actor... I may be biased with the prisoner being my all time favourite programme.. but I think The Prisoner was his greatest role.. Although I loved his portrayal of the King in the William Wallace film.. I forgot the name of the movie.. And he played an excellent part in one of the Columbo episodes... Brave heart I've just remembered 😅

I'm still convinced he is playing the same character in the prisoner as he did in danger man.. Although it was never said.. He played John Drake in Danger Man and I think he was John Drake in the prisoner.. Actually I posted this comment before I had watched the clip.. Patrick himself says here.. If it hadn't been for Danger Man there wouldn't have been the prisoner.. big clue there

Why take out the original theme tune at the beginning? Patrick was a very, very wise man, and in another interview he made a statement that was above anything that man can come up with, that is, that one day nuclear destruction will come as what man creates he eventually uses, and this will be nation against nation

@@Dragondave1000 Pat was already well into Danger Man, before he was asked to play Bond. After watching 64 episodes, we think he definitely made the right choice. Bond's were good 'eye-candy' but quite amusing and showing little in the way of reality when it came to intelligence work....nice girls though.

@TheOfficialMinistryOfTruth

I think after 64 or so Danger Man's and then 17 episodes of The Prisoner, he'd have been happy for the break. He had the fortune of then being able to pick his work, rather than needing work and his Columbo appearances and direction were notable. Plus 'The Hard Way' was an excellent film. (Scanners or Escape from Alcatraz weren't bad either) It's that old story of, when you've been at the top and presented a work of genius, where do you go from there? His daughter said he really 'was' Number 6 and had felt disjointed from the world from being a youngster. You're right as well of course, in that pissing off the Freemasons and 'establishment' corporations wouldn't have gone down too well.

@@TheOfficialMinistryOfTruth I felt sad seeing him in Columbo, it was just so beneath him both as an actor and creative genius. Lou Grade wasn't someone known for giving money away, so I expect the money earned from DM and Prisoner was not going to last forever. One would expect Patrick to have written more allegorical works, but would have found it difficult to find financial backers. Sure, Hollywood acting jobs paid the bills, but hardly ground breaking.
