Planet of the Reptiles. But it shouldn't be humans off against them alone. Present day wildlife should be the dinosaurs' primary antagonists. They'll win some and lose some.

@@cmajor1487 But what's funny about The Lost World (and which I have not know for a very long time) is that the novel by Crichton was actually commissioned by Mr. Spielberg Himself, so that he could go and make a movie out of it!!! I will say that the idea actually did have some merit of its own, but from that point on, all the other sequels have simply been soulless, cash-grabbing aberrations that just hope to rely on the nostalgic momentum established by the first movie.

The whole "Blue is gentle and empathetic" stuff, which nicely glosses over the fact that in the first movie she TRIES TO KILL OWEN THE MOMENT HE TURNS HIS BACK? Her appeal in the first film was her being an intelligent, deadly predator barely under control, but here they just make her a Jurassic Lassie who follows Owen and saves the day? It would have made more sense if when she was captured after reuniting with Owen she takes that as a betrayal on his part and turns against him for good, and later when she encounters the Indoraptor she fights him at first, until she realizes he's part raptor, even more so than the I. Rex, and they end up teaming up and trying to escape together...

Or at least have him have to employ some techniques similar to what people that rescue dogs from bad owners do to resocialize them and stuff, and have most people still distrust her, dismissing her intelligence with "she's a wild animal" and such; and then at some critical point, she appears to betray the human group, and they almost kill her when she returns but then they found out she had a plan and was still on their side.
@iclynnx
@iclynnx 5 жыл бұрын
That would've been an interesting storyline, but honestly, I still like Blue as the kind of wild "pet" dino. If a man can become a lion's friend, why not a raptor's friend? It's a true story, a lion and a man literally played together as friends. Blue is still dangerous, like the lion, she can kill the humans if she wants to, but she doesn't, because that's what friendship and trust is about. Though I kinda miss the times were the kids hide from the raptors in the kitchen. That scene never gets old. I want more creepy, eerie dinosaur movies, not just with action scenes that go fast. I like slow action, it makes your skin crawl to find out if the people manage to escape the terrible raptors' claws and teeth, like in the kitchen scene in the first Jurassic movie.
@Beastinvader
@Beastinvader 5 жыл бұрын
I completely agree. I thought at first that Blue felt betrayed, like Gollum and Frodo.. And exactly like you said. In Jurassic World she wasn't a hero. She was an ANIMAL. She only understood respect and leadership... like an animal (though even the respect part is suspect). In the second film she's basically a pet.

Things i didn't like about the film: -Cliches galore -Trying to be sad and dramatic and "Awwww i feel so bad for them"/"Its so sad D:" -Plot holes -Doing that thing where a single scene gets the center shot in a trailer but gets like 2 seconds in the actual movie movie -Making it seem that a certain actor has a bigger part but in reality they have about 10 minutes of screen time -Not mentioning events of the previous movies that should have been (such as a goddamn massacre in the middle of San Diego) -Changes in characters that basically threw away previously established character traits (Dr. Wu, Claire, and Owen) -Too many "Another movie did it, so we can do it to and it will be BADASS, because it has dinosaurs!" moments -overly symbolic moments And last but not least, The ending... The end of every Jurassic park film to date has a *(Somewhat)* solid ending, and we most know what happens after it. however in fallen kingdom, we just BREEZE past the fact that there has been a fucking Mosasaur that's just been chillin in the ocean for about a year *(We know its a year because Dr Wu says that the tooth sample of the Indominus Rex was collected one year ago, and in that same scene the Mosasaur breaks out of its cage and into the open ocean)*, and a man sized apex predator that can outrun a motorcycle in some suburban neighborhood, and the fact that OH YEA, by pressing the button to release the dinosaurs, Mazie has literally fucked up the ENTIRE ecosystem of southern California for possibly YEARS to come, because about 2 dozen species of dinosaurs are loose in the forest. like, nobody is going to mention that in 2 Jurassic park movies we have been directly told/shown that aviary dinosaurs are out there and possibly breeding like wildfire, but no we just ignore it. and back to my first point of "Un-solid" endings (If that's even a word lol) what about the other characters of previous films? Dr Grant? Zach and Gray? Tim and Lex? Ian Malcolms Daughter? Not even going to bring up that guy who gave Denis a ton of money to steal the embryos? So yea, that was my mini review of the film. tell me if i got any facts wrong (I guarantee i got at least ONE of these wrong, i might have missed a small detail) and tell me if you agree or disagree with anything i said, or didn't say, i'm completely open to any form of critisicm

How is the clone plot not adding anything to the story? Malcolm's entire monologue is not about the dinosaurs but about rampant genetic manipulation, especially when done on humans. Thus the clone serves to show that mankind has finally gone too far. That instead of just mixing two dinos, they'd mix Dino and human next. Heck that was the concept idea for the indominus rex. To be fair, the humans reaction to the clone should be more impactful but they downplayed it because the developers knew that it would overtake the dinosaurs. The main villain was dumb trying to sell dinosaurs when the goldmine is right under his nose. He'd be more rich selling cloning tech than weaponizing dinos.

The sad thing is you can see the workings of what could be an interesting story. What if they made some changes such as: * Maisy and the Indo form a bond, faking out the audience by thinking she’s going to be attacked before she pulls out a toy or something. The Indo’s rampage is triggered by the villains mistreatment of her. This makes the scene where they talk about how the raptor needs a mother more meaningful. The scene where we see Video of Owen bonding with Blue could be played over here, signifying a connection. Alternatively, * The Indo displays more intelligence, such as learning the combination to the elevator by listening to the noises the keypad makes. This could be an interesting call back to the ‘Big One’ in JP1 learning to operate a door. Or, it could do things like use Maisy as bait to draw out Owen.

See, when they stressed that the Endo-raptor needed a "mother", a being similar enough to it that it could identify and learn from, I thought they were going to make it imprint on Mazy. Because think about it, both times it appears with just her there, it doesn't attack but rather reaches out towards her, it never repeats that action with any other creature, even Blue, who the doctor was betting on to fill the mother role. And when they revealed the clone thing, I was like, "oh, that's how they're gonna role with this" and I thought that since Mazy seemed so inspired and in awe with Owen's videos of training Blue, I thought she would have a parallel where she reaches out and tries to tame the Endo. Where it'd go from there I have no clue, but I personally think that would have been much more fun to watch and more interesting than what we got, which was nothing. The clone thing went nowhere, and the mother thing also went nowhere.

Erick Chajon and I understand that, but the clone thing served no other purpose. The big problem is tho that now I can't root for her in any future movies. Like if a dinosaur tries to eat her I won't care. This movie is literally Aliens but less good. I’ll break it down: - the lead character had some dangerous experiences with some dangerous creatures in a far away place, and has decided to distance himself from them - shady business dude offers to help kill/save the creatures, but the lead wants no part of it; eventually, he change his mind - they travel to the far away place and meet up with a bunch of military dudes who only serve as alien/dinosaur fodder - it’s revealed that the business dude doesn’t actually want to help, but wants to sell the creatures to the government to weaponize them - the creatures are let loose in a house/facility, where the two romantic leads find a little girl whose family is all dead - the three characters all band together to stop the bad guys, the shady business dude is brutally killed by one of the creatures, and everyone lives happily ever after (until the next movie where two of them probably die)

Owen and Claire don't really have much character to them, so I really hope in Jurassic World 3 its them and Maisie operating as almost a survival family unit. I thought Maisie was fine and I hope they do something with the whole cloning thing, because although it served its purpose in the story, I think that idea, if done right, could add something to the Jurassic franchise. This movie was made to get rid of the island and set them loose on the mainland, and I think it did that the best it could. The send off to Isla Nublar was rather nice, with the first dinosaur we see on the island also being the last. This movie, more than the others, really got me to actually care about the dinosaurs, which was important to the debate in the movie. At the end of Jurassic Park, the sense of wonder had been replaced by fear, so naturally in the logical in-universe choice would be to let the dinosaurs all die. But now, with Blue especially, I'd actually want to see the dinosaurs get to live. I see them more as animals and not just the killing machines they're always shown as (Funnily enough, that's pretty similar to Claire's "arc"). I don't think the lack of wonder is this movie's fault. The wonder has been gone since the T-Rex escaped. Now, all that anyone wants to see the dinosaurs do is eat people. That sense of wonder can never be reclaimed, so I think the new movies are doing their best to take the franchise in a new, but still satisfying, direction.

GDS Studios um The Lost Word also had a sense of wonder. When we see the stegosaur family for the first time (which then leads to a nice scene that shows that big herbivores can also be very dangerous animals) or the ending shot with the dinosaurs and the pterosaurs roaming on Isla Sorna and Hammond wanting for them to be left alone.

I like how there was no sense of how many dinosaurs were in the mansion, because it's pretty hard to imagine 1 or 2 of each species lasting long enough to repopulate the area. And I like how the volcano was fast enough to kill all those dinosaurs yet it was slow enough for Chris Pratt to flop away from. I love the homage to the T-Rex saving people by having it do so same number of times in this film as it has in all the previous films combined.

I thought the ending was stupid and contradictory. The whole plot of the movie is about stopping the "bad guys" from using the dinosaurs to essentially hurt people in war. But at the end, the little girl lets them out, so they will still be harming people anyway?? I didnt understand why they made it out to be the 'positive' outcome when random people are still going to be getting killed by the dinosaurs either way.

Aspen Hunter Actually, no, they wouldn't be harming people. Even in real life, there are places where cougars, bears, leopards and other dangerous animals live right next to human populations but don't attack anyone. Why? Because they're smart enough to not attack people because of the massive populations that would side against them. Dinosaurs would know that too, even a T. Rex wouldn't be stupid enough to just waltz into a town and kill people on its own, the only reason it did in Jurassic Park: Lost World was because it was confused and had literally nowhere else to go. Herbivores like Ankylosaurus and Triceratops wouldn't hurt anyone because they eat plants, they have no reason to hurt people. And besides, it's stupid to think they actually deserve to die. It's like saying an elephant deserves to die for killing a hunter about to shoot it, or that an anaconda deserves to die because it can swallow a child, it's not their fault they have the potential to kill people. They didn't ask to be cloned and revived again, they have as much right to live as any animal today.

Kris Dueholm I did, moron, that's the whole point. There are certain places I'm India where wild animals and humans live so close together that a married couple will be walking a sidewalk and not see a tiger casually stroll the bushes across from them, and vice versa. But, the tiger isn't stupid enough to pounce because it knows that attacking a human in such a populated environment will only bring more, which is true for all predator-prey relationships. Ever wonder why lion prides don't typically bring down more than one or two zebras from a full herd in a single hunt? Because the full might of the combined herd would be too much for even them, so they take what they can and gtfo. Remember that desert town Blue found at the end? Yeah, no, she won't be attacking anyone unless she gets desperate or someone gets the bright idea to walk into the desert, even dinosaurs know enough common sense to not attack such a heavily populated area. If you seriously think I don't know my stuff about these animals before posting, you're the one that needs an education. Cloned or not, they are still animals with a right to live, no two ways about it.

The one scene that actually made me cry (yes) was when they see the Brachiosaurus get left behind on the island after they're on the ship and there was nothing Claire and Owen could do. Throughout this slow, grueling scene you see that dinosaur cry for help, then get eaten by the ash. That entire arch of 25-35 minutes where they trick the rescue crew and instead take these priceless creatures for the animal black market infuriated me. I think because it resonates so much with our real world. So saddening.

This entire situation wouldn't have happened if the main characters actually processed the fact that these guys were made by humans, and that they could be made again. They could have let the dinosaurs die from the volcano, let it become inactive again, and build another Jurassic World on top of it. Nope, they have to save the dinosaurs because of stupid writing... yeah! (I get that this needed to happen for there to be a movie, but I wish that it could have been a bit more... logical.)

I did like the ending because of the moral quandary it represented. Claire was all for letting them go and then she realized what exactly she was letting loose on the world. And even though she was an advocate for saving the animals in the end she realized that saving them probably meant the end of the humans. On the other hand I understand why Maisy let them go. She's just like them. An abomination to life as we know it. She's more like them than like us in a way. To her thinking freeing them is like freeing herself in a way. It was a good tug of war in terms of the thought processes even though I cussed that little girl lol. It was only when they were driving that I wished they didn't look so happy like it was going to be a happy ending with T-rex and friends running wild. BTW: the Pteradactyls have been running free for several movies and must have quite a few colonies set up around the world. they don't seem to have caused much havoc outside the parks.

Everytime I watch someone give their negative opinions on movies I like, i get more convinced that whether or not you like a movie really comes down to what you care about. Script, acting, sceneography, SFX, ideas, actors, dialoge etc. The list goes on and they all have different sub-parts too. And if you like the movie seems to be about which of theese you care about, and if the movie did them well. I personally agreed on most of what you said yet really likes this movie because those things really don't ruin the movie for me.

In my opinion, I loved this movie. I don’t believe that you can really focus on purely the wonder of dinosaurs. It’s been done in Jurassic Park and it would be pretty hard to top or can be seen as a copy of Jurassic Park if Jurassic World did the same. I believe that the characters are written well, with Owen and Claire’s relationship has done pretty well. The only gripe I have with the movie is the ending. The cloning reveal was kinda just “put there” without anything built upon besides a hint at what’s to come in future movies. I also believe killing off the dinosaurs in the end would’ve left a much more of a(n emotional?) impact. I do like the direction the movie is going with, however :). Great video as always. I personally liked the movie. In a comment I saw, they mentioned that people like movies for different thing. I like a movie for it's emotion. The part where the island was being blown up by the volcano and the brachiosaur in the distance made me cry (like, cry cry. As in, tears were pouring down my face and I couldn't see for a minute) When Claire was making the decision to free the dinos, I hoped they would be let go. As you can see from the above paragraph, I can be an emotional person. I saw the triceratops and it's kid and began to root for their survival. My cousin told me that at that point the movie went from a 3 to a 2 for him. I think it's more of a 7 because, while the ending could've been changed, it was enjoyable.

Well, if continuity is a thing, then why are they even in danger of being wiped out completely? There is almost no reason to suspect that Site B (Isla Sorna) isn't still completely intact. I've heard rumors about source material claiming they moved all the dinos from Sorna to Nublar, but I've never seen that material and the movies never make that explicit so I don't believe that actually happened. So if Site B is still functional, would there not be tons of dinosaurs untouched by the eruption without a rescue op? (BTW, if someone has a link to the rumored source material, please share it. I honestly believe it to be a lie that they fabricated to cover up the plot hole at this point.)

Isla Nublar is 120 miles west of costa rica while Isla Sorna is 207 miles west of costa rica. To insinuate that the volcano was large enough to kill both islands in one blast is to suggest that it was on the order of Krakatoa when it blew. It doesn't make sense scientifically, especially since the wind of the world blows west-to-east and Sorna is farther west than Nublar. Don't give me the argument of "Its a movie. Stop using real world logic." I want to hold these writers accountable to their story building failures. They never explain why Sorna isn't still a dinosaur ecosystem and they cant be bothered to write in a cataclysm that makes sense for killing both islands so its their fault for making such blatantly bad writing for the sake of cool action scenes.

I read these fan theories that the indo raptor had a fascination with Macie and had maybe even imprinted on her because it was surprisingly gentle with her compared to everybody else, and I think that idea sounds really cool. I wish they had gone with that in the movie instead but oh well.

Can we also talk about how the computer guy and the dino vet were completely unessasary. I mean if Claire knows the park better than anyone else like the movie claims, why do they need this random compute guy to open the door with Claire telling him what to do. All he really does is be scared and make a lot of jokes about being scared that literally no one in the theater laughed at. Like you could tell his jokes were supposed to be funny, But they just fell flat. And if you're gonna have a comedic relief, why not use Chris Pratt since he's already in the movie and his one joke about Claire being the reason he came to the island was the only joke the audience laughed at. And the dino vet was stupid. So get this right, the vetranariam who has never seen a dinosaur before knows more about raptor anatomy and how to medically treat Blue than the guy who's job it was to raise Blue and be the certified Raptor expert. What? And then when she says she's gonna go with Pratt to get Blue the soldier warns her it's dangerous, So she walks up to him, takes a tranq dart from his little pouch, says some shit about how Blue can overdose on tranqs if the soldiers aren't careful (Which is completely ignored throughout the rest of the film btw) and then says "I'm not as witless as your comment implies" and then pats his shoulder and yells "Come on beefcake" and is Now leading the charge to get Blue. WHAT!? I have no problem with a strong independent woman in movies, in fact they're often the best characters in movies, But this character didn't earn it. Obviously the trained soldier who has been capturing dinos for weeks is gonna question why the vetranarian who again, HAS NEVER SEEN A DINOSAUR BEFORE, is leading the charge. You could tell this moment was supposed to show she's "strong and independent" but it didn't feel earned and was so forced, and then throughout the rest of the movie she does literally nothing except treat Blue, But logically wouldn't Owen (Pratt's character) know how to do that since he's the raptor expert? I mean when shit goes down on the mission she's supposed to be leading with Pratt to save Blue, she doesn't actually show up until Pratt gets tranqed, She's just hiding off screen while shit goes down. I mean maybe if she was a vet in the original Jurassic World attraction before the film but the movie makes a point of telling us she hasn't seen a dinosaur before. I hated these two characters, as well as the clone girl for the reasons you mentioned, because they were just a waste of screen time, Like they literally didn't add anything to the story. At least the little girl was important to the plot as Indoraptor bait but that's really it, all that clone shit was unessasary. And don't even get me started on how stupid the ending was with her pushing the button. This isn't a horrible movie, it's good at certain parts but overall it's not very good...

Error Macro The biggest stupidest part of the film is the big conflict that all the dinosaurs are in danger of becoming extinct because of the volcano. This shows the writers never even saw JP 2 or 3. Otherwise they would know there are two islands with dinosaurs. Isla Sorna, and Isla Nublar. Sorna is where the dinos were first created before being brought to the original park on Nublar. Sorna is also were the dinosaurs have all been given freedom to roam without fences, and as we see in the lost world are mating and having babies. In the end of the Lost World Hammond says that the American and Costa Rican governments have agreed to declare the island(sorna) a nature preserve, securing the island from any human interference.

Making a big, CGI shitshow of a film is the EASY way to put a Jurassic Park film together, but the hard part is nailing down the tone. What is the TONE of Jurassic Park? It varies from person to person, but for me it was always the "less is more" approach, which the first movie had, and has progressively become lost as we've entered the age of movie audiences with little to no attention spans. The tone isn't action, it isn't volcanoes or hybrid freak-dinosaurs. It's isolation... it's dark jungles where you know something is there, but you don't see it. I have this long-standing vision for Jurassic Park which has stuck with me since seeing the very first movie. I played the Sega Genesis Jurassic Park games, with all its eerie sound-effects, dimly-lit levels, and strange, dated music numbers that gave the games a very alien, isolated feel to them. You felt as though a dinosaur could pop out at any moment and kill you...and these new films even HAVE elements like that in them. But by accident. The problem is that they blow their load too quickly. They can't resist throwing every dinosaur in the book at our faces, in broad daylight, as much as they can. Suddenly we're experiencing dinosaur overload, and they're not special anymore. Tone is forsaken for effects, and then even the effects are worth nothing. But the first movie got those elements of tone correct, on-purpose-by-accident. With CGI being in its infancy, and moving the puppets being such a nightmare, they kept the on-screen presence of dinosaurs to a minimum. Any other movie would have FAILED in that regard, but Spielberg knew how to use it to his advantage, and built suspense around the dinosaurs' absence. Some of the BEST scenes in that movie have no dinosaurs at all: The Jeeps parked in the pouring rain at night, the conversations in the dim computer room, Muldoon and Ellie walking through the woods (when the audience knows the raptors are loose), and any other scene of characters interacting in the largely DARK, and dimly-lit building, giving them a feeling of being far from safety, and helpless as they wait around with only auxiliary power. I don't care about any future movies in this franchise, because they're not Jurassic Park movies. They're 'Jurassic World' movies, and so far, I feel that both suck. They don't understand what made the first movie great. Here's a hint: it wasn't the dinosaurs.

So many things in this movie were truly awful. The complete lack of understanding concerning volcanoes and science in general. For example, the pyroclastic cloud the dinosaurs and Owen are running from made me cringe. This cloud moves away from a volcano reaching speeds of up to 430 mph. Outrun it? Nope. The gases can reach temperatures of about 1,000 °C (1,830 °F). This is what engulfed Herculanium when Mt. Vesuvius went. The skeletons of those poor people showed they were instantly toasted, their skulls cracked from the heat. Owen and dozens of dinosaurs are shown surviving it. Nope. Nope. Not going to happen. The same with any of the scenes involving lava. Did no one think to consult with any scientists at all in this film? I think not.

Erick Chajon suspension of disbelief only goes so far. Cloning tech already exists. Cloning dinosaurs by filling in gene gaps is a lot more plausible than lava that won’t burn a hole through you with crippling pain. If I add magical flying unicorns with death lasers for eyes in the JP universe, you can’t really use the ‘it’s just a movie’ defence when the movie presents itself as grounded in reality.

I’d disagree. If ur gonna talk about complication u can’t go without mentioning the fact that there was a second island used to breed the dinosaurs. And human cloning was eventually gonna happen, he’ll there were many rumors thinking that the Indominus Rex had human DNA. Also if we’re gonna talk about characters being plot devices we need to talk about Lex being a hacker in the original. In terms of the good and bad Dinosaur, in the original film the main Velociraptor that lead most of the carnage was a Raptor known as “The Big One”. Plus the T.rex did come in and save the group and the end of the original. In terms of Maisy, her reveal wasn’t meant to scare or horrify the main characters, imo at least, it was supposed to be used to give emphasis to why Mills wanted her back. She would be a valuable proof of concept towards the idea of human cloning, and thus worth a LOT of money. I thought Fallen Kingdom was the best film in the franchise in terms of its sequels(no its not better than the original that was established a long time ago that it wouldn’t be). One more thing, u gotta give the introduction its fair due, because that was the best introduction in the franchise and one of the best movie intros of this year(not out doing Infinity War however).

Successfully killed one person but tried to kill a lot more It was completely consistent with how a t-rex would act is the point, you can claim it was to make a "badass scene" that still isn't pitching the T-Rex as a good guy lol. Like at no point in that movie do you for example feel sympathy for the T-Rex and it's definitely never doing something because it believes it to be good, it's not protecting its friends or whatever, it's just trying to kill its prey.

Honestly, the Indoraptor could have been more of a threat in this movie. Instead of the Indoraptor getting stabbed by the Triceratops horn, it should've got harmed by the fall, run away. Then make the end credits the Indoraptor looking at a neighbourhood, went up to a house and looked through the windows, seeing Zach and Gray eat their food at the kitchen. Zach sees the Indoraptor, then Zach freezes in fear, Gray asks him what's up? Zach points at the Indoraptor, and Gray shakes so badly, he makes his food fall down to the floor. Then it ends there.

The best part about the first movie is that the T-Rex is both the villain and the savior. He is just there on instinct like you mentioned. The scene in the car he had just escaped so the first thing it saw were the people in the car, so it is villain. In the end however when it got inside the building it saw a raptor jumping so it attacked it and unintentionally saved the humans. It wasn't good or bad, it was just an animal.

I really have to disagree with a few points of your review. 1st off, it annoys me that people speak of "Spielberg's vision" when it comes to Jurassic park when the movies are simply adaptations of Michael Crichton's novels of the same name though there are differences between the novel and the films the message is the authors rather than the directors. My main problem with reviews of the two Jurassic world movies is that they don't understand the idea the original author is trying to get across and the premise of the two new films is a continuation of Micheal Crichton's vision which is taking genetics too far and like all his novels are worst case scenarios of that idea. Jurassic world, and fallen kingdom take the original concept to the next level having scientist create dinosaurs that never existed simply because they can. Personally i think the original author would be proud of the last two movies.
@justinadams583
@justinadams583 5 жыл бұрын
Lol, there's nothing original here. You clearly never read the books or got the concept of the first movie. The whole premise of the first movie, as stated in this video is that man should not play god; the problem of playing with genetics of long extinct animals. All of the Original sequels further explored this albeit loosely. Jurassic world was basically a soft reboot with some other cliched moments sprinkled within. Fallen kingdom takes the same extact concept of Jurassic Park: The Lost World (taking animals off the island for another resort) and adds, again, cliche'd moments for the duration of the movie, even basically taking aspects from Jurassic World.
@mrcoatsworth429
@mrcoatsworth429 5 жыл бұрын
I'm 30 seconds into the video and I don't how good or bad the rest of it is, but I just needed to comment. Jurassic Park has no *one* message. Jurassic Park does *not* say "don't play god". It asks questions. This is pretty obvious if you have ever read any interviews with Michael Crichton who wrote both the book and the movie.
