The owner of the ufc and a major representative and announcer of the the sport both love a new product and believe it would be a great for the ufc but the makers of the inferior gloves have so much money into the ufc that the ufc can’t replace them for losing that money. It’s about the dollars not the fighters health. But at least the ufc is technically healthier than boxing. Those dudes are nuts.

Ufc is not boxing, esp the wrestling centric fighters use their hands to grab and control an opponent. So now it'll be harder to open for them, still straining the forearm. What you need is a slight stretchy material right at the hinge area of the top knuckle. That way you can open OR close without extra forearm strain or infringing finger movement

And for those who may think otherwise, mma, and boxing gloves historically, are as much or more for the protection of a fighter’s hands than for the opponent’s body. This makes a big difference when looking at/thinking about the construction of a fighting glove.

It's not actually rocket science to make gloves that curve the fingers instead of stretching them out. If the UFC production company wanted to do it, they could even without any patent. Any boxing glove guides your fingers into a curve position.

I use these same gloves for sparring and practicing. Reg ufc gloves are ungodly horrible.

I have used gloves like these before. The fact that it naturally closes your fist is great for striking and preventing eye pokes but it also makes it effortful and uncomfortable to open the hand for blocking, parrying, grappling etc. It's just reversed the problem. People will lean towards one or the other but personally I believe it's too big a compromise for b

You could add a stitch line across the palm with more solid materials that supports your hand when you open it but as you close your fist or grab a limb it can fold inwards and support a closed hand

The real, practical problem with gloves from my perspective is that they only give the illusion of safety. Boxers and MMA fighters actually suffer more concussions than bare knuckle fighters, meaning more brain damage for the person getting hit, but also simultaneously, gloves add extra mass, no matter how small to your punches, exacerbating the issue, PLUS it's actually more unsafe for the person throwing the punch, as the extra padding makes them punch harder than they would bare knuckle to compensate for the padding, leading to yet even more brain damage and concussive force, but also higher likelihood of fighters fracturing their own hands when a punch connects. Gloves don't protect anyone, they're not there for the fighters, they're there for the viewers and the crowd. Because even though blunt force trauma is longer lasting, it doesn't look as bad as the cuts that bare knuckles cause. Gloves are meant to prevent bleeding so the sport LOOKS safer. Not so that it IS safer. Cuts are gonna be shallow but they'll end the fight quicker due to doctor stoppage. Bruises and concussions don't show the worst of their effects until AFTER a fight, hell, sometimes a corner will have to intentionally cut open a bruise to make swelling go down just to prolong the fight. Fights last longer and look less violent, so they sell more tickets, and don't get the government on their ass at the expense of the longevity of fighters.

Ufc should really switch to Justin's gloves, it would set them further apart than they already are from the competition, and I cant imagine it would be any more experience to manufacture them but im sure they dont want to switch because of how iconic the old ones are. Im pretty sure they make alot of money off outside sales with those gloves.

First time I finished a wrestling match my forearms felts like someone stabbed knives in them for 15 min. It was one of the most excruciating pains I ever felt. I imagine he is talking about this.

They need the Rizin/pride gloves. Molded so you cant extend your fingers, ive worked at riding and its a world of difference
