White feminism is quite just white supremacy for white women in my mind. It's about white women reaching the top of the hierarchy with white men. It's not about all women but the individual success of one particular woman. I've had many a discussion with women whose feminism is racist, homophobic, transphobic etc. How can you support the rights of women to live safely and authentically as a feminist and still find justify why some 'other' women ought not to have the same?

I agree with this completely. But I would add that “white feminism” does not only refuse to include the politics of race in its politics and ideology, it also refuses to include class (the biggest intersection there is, one which intersects will all other oppressions), it refuses to include ability, and queerness. A white feminist is one who focuses purely on the issues that affect white, middle or upper class, straight, cisgender and abled women. It does not stand for the disabled, people of colour, the poor, trans women (terfs are very definitely white feminists), women with sexualities other than straight. And because it refuses to include these other aspects in its feminism, I would argue that it’s not very good feminism. White, middle and upper class, straight, cis, abled women are at the top of the totem pole of the entire gender. And feminism needs to fight for all women, all minorities, and yes- even men. Because men are also impacted by the kyriarchy, by toxic standards, by things like class, race, sexuality, and disability. If your feminism does not fight for all of these people- is it even feminism at all?

As a poor white woman living in the USA I don't feel like I am oppressed. Not sure why middle and upper class white women would feel this way. Maybe they need a hobby.

This is why I prefer Women's Liberation to Feminism. Women's Liberation is about the liberation of all women while Feminism is about power and influence for upper middle to upper class women. It's a bourgeois ideology.

I believe you are trying to say that feminism is particularly made for privilege people and/or white women. It may not entirely encompass women from different backgrounds or who are multiply marginalized. Women from Afghanistan or black women would most probably feel excluded in todays feminism theory because it is not shown to consider their unique struggles, which may come from those women's culture or background.

It's just one of those subjects that gets really tiring very fast. Capitalism, due to its ubiquity, is insanely efficient at distorting and taking over social movements. It's also why you can't be socially left wing and economically right wing if you have any consistent beliefs. But we've deluded ourselves into pretending like believing women are competent at traditionally male dominated fields is some insanely progressive position. It's probably also why feminism tends to get a bad rap even within some progressive circles. The women I've asked about it IRL the, admittedly, few times it's come up just kind of seem iffy on the whole thing and don't like the girl boss pandering. Women, by a statistically significant margin, don't like to identify as feminist in my country, but we are more equal on gender issues than most countries. And then there's the whole TERF thing, which really makes feminists look bad just by association. Just a ton of bad optics that I almost feel like a new intersectional movement needs to be born to replace "plain old feminism". Calling it "intersectional feminism" won't work either I think. I feel liberals have stripped too much substance to the point it has kind of become a punching bag for reactionaries.

Though I respect the effort to politicize and radicalize feminism, I think this kind of view and all the critical evaluations of so-called 'postfeminism' are just the straw man fallacy. Is there any influential feminist who actually argues that women around the world will be fully liberated when all Indian women can live like Carrie? I do not think there is anyone who even claims that American women will be liberated if women in Arkansas can live like her. Yes, there is a tendency among women that worships 'pretty' white self-acclaimed feminists like Emma Watson, however, is there anyone who explicitly endorses such tendency? There is hardly any. A social tendency can be harmful and might need a remedy. However, you cannot argue against it because it is not a claim. It is like the sexual objectification of women. It needs a remedy, but you cannot argue against it for no one, even its practitioner, argues for it.

What we can gather from all the related discourse is that feminism tends to be based on a criteria af "cultural" eligibility. It means if you're white and Christian, you're much more likely to have a prominent position among women and men who think alike and it will usually be based on education and informed activism. If you're wearing a niqab or are currently a Russian girl in a German kindergarden, don't expect too much sympathy from feminists or the acerage people. Women who entertain the idea of feminism tend to treat their counterparts suffering from all sorts of opression elsewhere as a token that just adds more moral sparkle to their overprivileged lives. Freedom is based on money and power. This is determined by your cultural background. Islam can't and will never be fully embraced by Christians in developed countries. The Neofacist movement is increasingly targeting Muslims and it's going to get worse, they're not going to stop. Not because of the treatment of Muslim women, but because they could one day reduce white Christians to a minority in their own country through "overbreeding" while "true" Europeans are suffering from the white plague. And soon it might not even be treated as discrimination due to the economic crisis and constant influx of Muslim immigrants. But you'll rarely hear an opinion about this. That's the whole point and there are very few, if any feminists who will dare to say it. Or understand it in the first place.
