Nice video. S5IIX is my main camera. Here are a few things on my wishlist: - Fix the HDMI lag, especially without having to disable audio via HDMI - An updated XLR adapter with: more robust parts (especially the hotshoe foot), more granular gain and low/high pass settings, ability to have a safety track when only using 1 mic - 2 USB-C ports so we can connect both an external SSD and power delivery

Points are valid but for the USB port, you can add larger power delivery using a dummy battery and can use the USB port for SSD. Although 2 USB ports are a must so that we can use the 2nd port to interact with DJI gimbals like active track, lidar base follow focus etc.

@@OasisExplorer I'd personally want to move away from external drives if possible, but I do think there's weight to the idea. Using a dummy battery means you loose hot-swapability. Maybe a DC or Lemo connector instead of second USB-C?

@@ShaneVanLitz I currently use a v-mount battery + dummy battery. It works well enough, but there is no hot-swapability on really long shoots. Any extra flexibility on the power and data features would be nice.

AA filter is a must on top of everything mentioned for the next gen. As an S1H user in a hybrid capacity, its never compromised the stills, in fact I typically prefer them to the s5 and s5ii that I also use.

1 - Allow complete disabling of internal processing (noise reduction and sharpness) with internal codecs (0 isn’t truly 0 in the S5 & S5II/X). It’s a stupid limitation, forcing the camera to use processing power that we don’t even want.. 🤦🏻‍♂️ 2 - OLPF in all video centric models. We don’t care about ridiculously sharp images, especially when moiré creeps in and ruin everything! 3 - Add a Shutter Angle ONLY lock option in the Operation Lock menu. I literaly have to put a piece of black gaffer tape on the dial to prevent accident that would ruin the footage.. 4 - Truly fix the HDMI lag 5 - Stop downconverting 33x LUTs into shitty 17x for monitoring V-Log. When using RealTimeLUT, the monitoring is in full 33x, so it makes no sense that the camera wouldn’t be able to do it when shooting in V-Log.. it’s full of banding artifacts/macro-blocking, especially in underexposed areas. In 2024, that’s innacceptable. 6 - Reduce Rolling Shutter below 16 ms 🙏🏻 7 - Redesign connectivity so the HDMI cable will allow us to tilt the screen. PDAF is excellent and very useful, but since we can’t control it from an external monitor, it sucks that we can’t fully articulate the screen. Also, the S1H screen design would be better. 8 - There’s a weird glitch on my S5IIX : When I fire up the camera (or swap batteries), my custom presets (V-Log + monitoring LUT) load with a 2nd instance of the LUT baked into the footage. If I start recording, it’s like i’m using RealTimeLUT (one instance of the LUT will be baked into the file). It’s like i’m both using V-Log + LUT monitoring & RealTimeLUT at the same time.. which is not even possible. The only way to make this go away is to either rotate the right dial a few notches and come back on my custom preset (then, the 2nd LUT disappear and everything is back to normal). Freaking annoying!

Totally, I think a lot of people who bought the s1h or pocket cinema style cameras are now looking to buy their first bigger camera in the fx6-fx9ish class range and Panasonic don’t currently offer anything!

@@TheFilmGuyOfficial i was tempted on the 12k OLPF, a friend of mine bought and it's awesome, the downside is that here where i live (Brasil) it's still a pretty expensive camera, it's a lot cheaper to get a fx6 and even a Komodo. While it's a great camera, the market for it is pretty terrible here so it would not be a smart decision as far as business goes (I'm a freelancer owner/operator DoP)

Greats takes and I agree with all the points. I don't think we will get an EVA 2 from what I hear BUT now Panasonic are officially merging the professional and consumer divisions I expect some great developments.

Personally one thing that always has been bizarre to me is the fact that you can only display info on the camera screen, or the monitor screen and never both. This was possible all the way up until the GH6 which suddenly took away the ability to mirror the UI along with a few other weird steps backwards like long startup times, long delay in record starting, and a still occasional HDMI low frame rate judder at times. I agree about a large Cine camera too. The Varicam was killing it for a time and is all but dead at this point. Although I recall the broadcast and prosumer Lumix line getting combined recently if I’m remembering right…could mean some new pro gear.

The Sony fx3 has this issue also! I think it’s a processing power thing! It doesn’t seem like it would take much, but I think these cameras tend to use everything they have
@ShaneVanLitz
@ShaneVanLitz 4 ай бұрын
Totally! I think the S1H was originally menat to be the little B-Cam to the Vericam / EVA-1 - You can see it was marketed as having the same colour science, but even back then I think it was too little too late because the steam for the EVA-1 was already fading IMO. As for the menu over HDMI - You have to disable HDMI clean feed and also RAW output and then they should show up, at least they do on the S5 for me, I think the BS1H is only SDI or HDMI and not both.
@RhettThompsonFilm
@RhettThompsonFilm 4 ай бұрын
@@TheFilmGuyOfficial that’s definitely true. People don’t realize that either and that’s typically why some things just can’t be added in with firmware. Not always the case of course but sometimes.
@RhettThompsonFilm
@RhettThompsonFilm 4 ай бұрын
@@ShaneVanLitz no I know what you’re saying. The only option as far as I can tell it is only “HDMI INFO DISPLAY - ON” which turns it on for the monitor and off on the camera or “OFF” which does the opposite. But yea as powerful as the S1h is it still has some limitations now and has that DSLR body style that not everyone loves.

@@RhettThompsonFilm Interesting, I just checked now and I do get menus / overlays on the S5 and the monitor both at the same time - that's how I recorded the menus for this video. It may be different for the other cameras in the lineup though!

I think for the price what the S5ll und the x offers it is actually the best what you can get. If they will bring the S1Hll with internal electronic nd and maybe a global shutter ..or reduce the readout to 5-7ms it will be the new king of indie camera. I guess in the next months the real Gh5 successor will be nominated!!!

Unfortunately they don’t make sensor they buy it from Sony and Sony. Haven’t even been able to solve that problem. They could probably give us a decently fast read out Camera, but we would lose access to anamorphic modes

It is called upselling. - Definition: Upselling is the practice of encouraging customers to purchase a comparable higher-end product than the one in question. KZfaqrs making complaining videos about "issues" only helps those brands in selling. Free commercial for the brand. yeah. ;)

@ShaneVanLitz
@ShaneVanLitz 4 ай бұрын
I see what you're trying to say but I think it doesn't quite land in this case. Some of my points are firmware fixes to existing cameras and Panasonic don't currently have a camera in that higher price range at the moment. If you're a working professional once you start booking bigger commercial jobs the fact of the matter is that you will need some of the features found on bigger cameras and we'd love to see what Panasonic did in that segment. If you're happy with less for the stuff you do then that's legitimately great, but the market is bigger than only some users needs and we find the possibilities of that exciting. Lastly, if people don't mention issues, how can we expect fixes?
