@frikkied2638 these stamps are the equivalent to western signatures, and are used to "sign" the most important documents, like marriage certificates. Its reallt not much in the engineering department honestly. You just need a wire edm. At the low price of $500,000. Trying to get my shop to pick one up. These things just look wild to the ignorant.

The next dude did have to come in and chop some pixels to get a practical vector though.

@@DirtyRobotYeah, that part of the workflow was strange to watch. Do all this lovely sketch and marker work, just to decimate the design into a very low-res bitmap, before resurrecting it into a vector. Seems like they could save hours(?) of time and more faithfully transfer the artwork by just scanning directly to vector, and filtering any super noisy edges the wire-EDM process can't recreate.

@@asm_nop Heck, just work directly in vector. Illustrator and a Wacom tablet would eliminate a lot of time as far as I can tell. Illustrator has a pressure sensitive brush if you want a variable line width, or you can disable the pressure feature and set the brush width to whatever you need so it's consistent throughout the design.

I think that step is deliberate. You want a design that is readable in its final size. Reducing it to a pixel version in one step will take care of that. Otherwise, it is very easy to be lost in small details that look huge on screen but are invisible in the final stamp. The fixed-size pixels force you to work at a useful resolution. I've run into that trap multiple times when designing in vectors for laser cutting or 3D printing. You lose all sense of scale, and the final result is just a tiny blob without definition.

@@asm_nopI'm not aware of anything that will "scan directly to vector" All imaging type scanners make pixels then something can turn that into a vector. This is using a person to trace it which is probably useful to set things like minimum sizes and clearances that the sketch may not have. It's also transforming the design into pure perfect geometry with perfect lines and curves rather than a wobbly trace of a hand sketch.

Nippon and Nihon means Japan and Япония (romanise Yaponiya) in bulgarian and russian. N81 is a combination from the first letter N from the local name of Japan with the international calling code +81 (CotW N81 or N81 for CotW Corp.)
