Most amazing dialogue! "Passion without compassion" really got me.

Dale Dissmeyer Agree. Jack Palance! He puts the meaning into the words even before he speaks them! Great actor!

Though it's a dialogue, you may just be right--but it's an awfully low bar.

Not sure how or why this film doesn't have an 8/10 on IMDB to be honest. It is a compelling film with simply stunning cinematography of endless landscapes, buttes, & rotting sand covered tumbrils. There is a thread of fatalism & hopeless romanticism running through the film which is balanced by a modest intelligent sense of humour. I think many Westerns are Dark & Gritty because humour is difficult to make seem natural on screen because of it's spontaneity. This is a refreshing take on a classic formula. And has aged very well.

J.W. Grant : You bastard. Rico : Yes, Sir. In my case an accident of birth. But you, Sir, you're a self-made man.

I' m surprised that " The Professionals " hasn't been rediscovered . This movie has the more memorable dialogue than any other movie made . The back and forth between Lee Marvin and Burt Lancaster is just glorious . Jack Palance and the rest of the cast are great .

Word of mouth -- I think this is the only way to get people to realize we had great things like nutrition of the soul through art.

You should view the movie "Way of the Gun". The similarities are blatant. Not to mention the one-liners and the last fifteen minutes of the movie. A modern-day western, where no one is innocent...except for one.

One of the greatest movies ever made with a fantastic cast, Burt Lancaster, Lee Marvin, etc.

You can tell red dead redemption got a lot of ideas from this movie. Watching the night raid on 4k was absolutely stunning. It's one of those movies you have to watch a 2nd time to appreciate

Again one of those " Gringos " doing a Mexican. Jack Palance, here as a Mexican gang leader, was in later years to be seen as the trail boss in CITY SLICKERS.( and of course as his own tween brother in Part 2 ) A classical example that even a modern Western nowdays made can be a lot of fun to be watched. THE PROFESSIONALS ( DIE GEFÜRCHTETEN VIER in German ) is also a great one. Loved it since seenng it on TV almost fourty years back. I believe the computer game DESPERADOS. WANTED DAED OR ALIVE ( SPELLBOUND, 2001 ) is wildly influenced by it. Just mentioned as a fun fact.

This scene is simply epic - nobody would have thought a movie called "professionals" would have this. such a lame name.

Week, that's just it. Still, hardly a basis for government, is it? God. Sort of the "OK, can we start again here?" -Point here in history.

Good monologue. It sums up what we all are doing here on earth... just vanity. Regardless what you do, you turn back to dust like everybody else. There is only one way out of this cycle, the way to eternity... Jesus.

@Sajjad...A bitter wheel that ever repeats. We never learn. Perhaps, this is universal. Other extraterrestrial civilizations destroyed themselves, thus, the universe is lost....
