A review of the Progress Vulfix 'Hyde Park' pure badger brush. A great little brush from a British company, based in the Isle of Man, that specialises in producing high quality brushes at an affordable price. I'm using Proraso White shaving soap for sensitive skin and shaving with a vintage Joseph Potter Velvet safety razor. Finally finishing tonight's shave with a drop of Lucky Tiger aftershave lotion.

I just bought a Vulfix brush for $64 (Canadian dollars), and it really is terrific quality for the price! I highly recommend it.

Mark, I have been considering a badger brush for a while. I have a super badger but it's too floppy and hardly used in 20 years. My other badger is even older and the loft has receded so all the black tips have gone. I've ordered a Hyde Park based on your recommendation. Picked one up for £22 including p&p which I thought was good value. I cannot justify to myself spending £90 on a brush, especially when synthetics are so good and so cheap.

I quite enjoyed my Vulfix brush, Chris. For the price I thought it was really nice and it hardly lost a hair but it did pong a bit initially. They're a very old manufacturer of shaving brushes, they have a good name. It was just the right size for me really. I have a silvertip badger brush that I bought second hand, it is soft but there is so much hair in the brush, it makes up for that softness. I'm really starting to enjoy the synthetic brushes. As you wrote, the knots are so good these days and they are such good value.

Got a Stirling synthetic 26mm. Monster lather maker, soft but with backbone. In a sale less than £15, amazing value.

Skullandrumit A very nice video Mark. The brush appears to completely take charge of the job in hand. I have 3 of the ' London ' series in bristle , Hyde Park, The Strand , and Mayfair.....if I recall their names correctly ! Bonnie little performers all. Would you be kind enough to state the differance between the Prorasso White and the red ,of which I have used and liked ? If you would not mind obviously. Regards Regards

The red, as you know, is sandalwood and the white is green tea and oatmeal (I think) I've referred to it as Proraso White for so long I had to really think about that. They've slightly changed the scent of the white recently but I haven't tried the new soap.
