This half of the anthology includes a lot of references to Greek mythology, which often includes prophecies. Sysiphus was doomed to roll boulders up a hill (“thanK you aIMee”), Cassandra could prophesy/see the future but nobody believed her, etc. I also read in a BBC article that this song is a lot like the Greek poet Sappho’s poem Ode to Aphrodite (the goddess of love).

Yes! I love interpreting her lyrics and associating them with poetry, numerology, greek mythology, spirituality. I'm obsessed with her lyric videos 🤍 Willow has greek mythology references as well. As I'm listening, I just thought about that bust sculpture in the TTPD library. I have notes about it at home, but I'm pulled over on the side of the road typing this 😂😂 Will add your correlations to my notes, thank you!!

So much yearning in this song . The melody and the lyrics combine to give us the feeling of her intense longing for love in her life . Which she certainly has now with Travis Kelce !

Love this song! The layering of the vocals contribute to the hollow feeling of the song. Very soulful and it sits like lead in the stomach, while also having this almost desperate hopeful feel too. So sad and full of dispair, but also holding tight to the elusive hope that something can still happen.

Run-on sentence flow is often seen in Biblical hymns too. Might've been intentional - seeing she's on her knees, praying "Please."

This is definitely one of my favorites. I agree that the B side is better. I’m not a bubble gum pop fan though so it makes sense that I like the more singer-songwriter style & songs. I have never been a Swiftie and never cared for much of her music, but I really love some of these songs. The Prophecy, Peter, loml, etc have sort of made me change my mind about her a little bit.
