I've worked as both a research coordinator and a Clinical Research coordinator. The differences between the two are mostly in the areas and types of studies you will work in/on. RC work more on socio- behavioral, psychology, non treatment studies. Whereas, CRC do more with biotech, pharmaceutical, treatment/interventional clinical trials.

Grind for a a year or 2 as CRC or CRA, and I mean GRIND. Go hard for a project manager position afterwards, you'll have a bump on your salary and be less stressed about travel, as there's basically none.

I am so happy that I found ur channel! I have been in healthcare for almost 9 years. I have experience working in inpatient Psych as well. I started getting more interested in clinical research after working in Radiation Oncology. I'm thinking about going for the CRC role at my hospital.

Hi! Thanks for this video, glad I found your channel! I’ve been working since graduating with a BA in psychology in 2015, primarily in social services/case management. I JUST landed a salaried research coordinator position and…wow, it took a long time and some luck. I think our frontline work has shaped our perspective and benefits when interacting with participants. So valuable! That’s what my interviewer liked about my background. Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for this video and it’s so nice to hear someone who came from social work and now going into PhD, since it’s my goal as well! Best of luck on your endeavors!

@@mariamarch2105 Hi, I saw this quite late I apologize. If you are in the Los Angeles area, i highly recommend looking into The Lundquist Institute for Biomedical Innovation at Harbor-UCLA in Torrance. A lot of those jobs, which are typically under the "Project Coordinator" title are actually CRC positions. I've noticed that this organization takes chances on people trying to break into the field. I've been in this role for almost a year and it's already opened so many other research coordinator type positions (got 4 interview requests at the 6 month mark). If you aren't in LA, I recommend looking into independent/nonprofit research organizations. Applying to big name places are great, but I find that there are other doors that can get you in quicker. Even if you get a CRC type of position and its in a study that's unrelated, stick with it until you can segue into something closer to psychiatry/psychology. Hope this helps and good luck! Do let me know if you have more questions.

No problem! Other things to consider is really the cost of living where you are, where's the funding for the posting coming from (private or public), and what kind of agency/company are you working for? Usually private companies tend to pay better than universities or state funded civil positions :) best of luck!

Hello from Seattle! Thanks so much for your video. It’s so much helpful for the people who are interested clinical research coordinator positions and have no background or knowledge how to get into it. Would it be good idea for a business graduate to apply for clinical research coordinator position if they are interested in the field? Do they need any specialized courses? Or it is entirely impossible? Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi Sadaba- from a research nurse, there is an entire aspect of clinical research that is very specifically finance oriented; negotiating with drug companies, making sure that things are invoiced appropriately, helping investigators draft budgets, etc. There are "boots on the ground" coordinators who implement the trials, and there is the equally important group that keeps the wheels turning. Especially in an academic setting, studies are constantly coming to an end, and it is a real skill to keep new studies "in the pipeline" at all times. If you are interested in applying your business training with research, that could be really awesome and lead to a great career path. Where I work, we have entire departments dedicated to doing just that. And there would always be a high demand for that skill set. There is a 5 hour "course" on becoming a CRC on KZfaq that looks very helpful. (disclosure, I haven't watched the entire thing). it is by Dan Sfera. Good Luck!

I work as a CRA and i think the first problem of being in research is that you dont need a degree to get in (i only have a college diploma in health admin atm) so the salary is low. But getting this job has made me realize how much research interests me. My colleagues are definitely underpaid which is incredibly sad. I will be getting a degree in SW to increase my salary bc my current wage is not livable

What about Clinical Research Associate Vs Coordinator (CRA Vs CRC) what one is better to do

CRA is higher than CRC. if u dont have any hands on experience in clinical research industry , then u need to start as CRC to gain some site experience . CRA pays is very stressful cos half of ur time is spent on travlling to different sites
@thagirion9761
@thagirion9761 3 ай бұрын
A CRA is a lot more involved than a CRC. CRA's are responsible for auditing sites. So you'll have to travel to these different sites to conduct monitor visits, which could be all over the country. Also, CRA's (typically) need a master's degree.

You are the epitome of your generation's ignorance and sense of entitlement. Research is all about data collection. And work is repetitive. Work is work! As far as pay is concerned, CRC's are well compensated for their efforts. They can make anywhere from 50K-60K, depending on experience, how big the site is and which state you're working in. Come on!
