Thanks Chad. In terms of usability I don't think there's anything else out there like it. I was really impressed with how quick it was to get to grips with all the controls.

They're both great thermal scopes. If you want to keep size & weight to a minimum & have super simple controls = Go Talion! If you want a more traditional design = Go Thermion (30mm mounting rings). The Thermion will edge ahead on image quality with its faster lens and lower NETD but, if you can, try them both out for yourself to see what you think. Yes the Talion records video with audio! And although it doesn't have a laser range finder it does have something called Stadiametric Range Finding... which is a good approximation of the range of different sized animals based on their size through the view finder.

Thermal is an ideal solution: It'll easily detect the kind of small targets you're aiming at. Which thermal depends on the position of your magazine. - If that's BEHIND your scope - the Talion would be a great solution. - If you need some height because the scope needs to sit ABOVE the magazine, consider a Thermion - (loads of options / standard 30mm rings). A Talion will pick up a heat source of a fox at over 800 yards and clearly identify that it is a fox between 200-300 yards (depending on conditions). As for putting a round in the best place, this will vary by individual and the rifle being used; for some that'll be 50 yards, for others 150 yards.

Glad the Axion XM30F is doing a good job for you. I'll have some videos of the new range of Thermion 2 PRO's very soon on the Thomas Jacks KZfaq channel. They've got bigger, more capable sensors than the current Talion, so watch this space.

I hope xq50 pro is enough, because xp50 pro is to expensive. But I think xq has the same sensor than talion, but a better netd

Hi, for this video the Talion wasnt rifle mounted - simply mounted on an innomount mount and I'd bolted a piece of picatinny rail to an old tripod. Dave

I've not seen the video but there's a few factors which will determine how well animals can be identified through any thermal: - Weather conditions (temp and moisture levels) - The capability of the thermal (mainly the sensor but also the lens, the viewfinder and the software) - The settings that have been selected (incl sensor amplification, smoothing, brightness, contrast and of course focus) - The distance involved - The animals features (incl size, shape, behaviour in terms of what it's doing, where it is and it's movement... along with other animals in the same habitat that might be confused for the thing you're hoping to see). In my Talion video there's a munt jack at over 300m but it only becomes identifiable when it shows its side profile and moves. The rule of thumb is you get what you pay for. If you want to identify animals further away, or you're frequently out in difficult conditions, maybe wait for for one of these with a bigger XG sensor. When it's launched I'll hopefully do a comparison.

Close range stuff only for this unit mate. Foxes at 100 meters... forget it.

@@smokeingcrowswithrobbo995 Sorry for the slow reply pal. Pigs at 150 would be fine I imagine as they're a pretty distinctive shape. All depends what you need I suppose. Personally, I'd get a good quality thermal spotter and use an IR night vision scope for the actual trigger work. Thermals are great for target acquisition but out past 150 meters, they can't touch IR for detail... that's just the nature/limitations of thermal at the moment.

I admit it might have got the music levels a bit high on this video - sorry! But it's a well established principle (in everything from feature films, to documentaries) that music adds an emotive element that can improve engagement, enjoyment and the retention of information. Sadly there's also a principle that you can't please all of the people all of the time.. but I'll continue to try my best by taking the time to respond and adapt to feedback. The one thing you should take out from this video (apart from the terrible music) is the Talion's brilliant, user friendly controls; If I was looking for a first thermal - this would be it.
