The thing is, Mega Man Zero 2 is a good game and while I haven't played X7, I have heard enough and seen enough to make some opinions of it, and it already has one hell of a reputation. Also, the European box art for this game, and by extension X8, isn't very interesting at all, just X with a yellow background (red for X8).

Keiran MacFarlane Also has one of the best intro stage songs in the Franchise. Departure is awsome!

Demi-Fiend of Time Only matched by Central Highway and Zero's intro stage theme in X4. As for other contenders from the Zero series, Hope For Freedom is also pretty badass.

@@darksonicyt5430 Japanese voice acting in the cutscenes(i think they changed it latter on in the legacy colection) ,that is and IMO the worst in the series, the ruined zeros sacrifice, manage to ruin sigma entire battle in x5, and gave us characters that legit had 0 good qualities, red and axl were at least okay, the level desing is the worst in the series (take infinity mijinions stage that is not a level, it is just a staight line with enemies and nothing else), worst macanics in the series(especialy the nightmare sisteme) worst maverick boss fights, and even though x7 has a lot of bad qualities most of them were because they botched the jump to 3d, x6 is a 2d megaman game they shuld've mastered that shit by that point. X7 isn't a good but it is way better than x6. the only good thng about x6 is the music and that isnt enough to salvege this game far from it

How did Mega Man X6 do that?

Uchecuhkwu Daniel X5 was supposed to be the last game in the X series, with the Zero Series already planned in advance by Inafune. However, X6 was made behind his back, even being released the SAME YEAR as X5. By the time Inafune found out about it, it was already to late to shut it down, at least without Capcom going bankrupt as a result, so Inafune had to make a change in the Canon for Zero 2 and onward, to Fit Zero's ending in X6. In other words, X6 screwed up X series to Zero Series continuity SIMPLY BY EXISTING!

If I'll be honest, I kind of see that as a good thing. The idea of such a stalwart heroic character like X doesn't really sit well with me, and IMO it goes against the entire point of his character in the first five games. I dunno, I've never been a fan of "Hero turns to the Dark Side" stories as they all end up being the same hackneyed tripe, and I don't really see how that storyline could have gone any differently.

Tell that to Darth Vader fans. Hell, Vegeta was an Irredeemable Jackass befor the Cell Arc, yet that didn't stop his heel face turn. But I do see where you're coming from, yet X7 did his character injustice as well so X cracking from the pressure wouldn't be THAT farfetched. idk, it could be because X6 Is such a hateful game in my eyes and it boggles me the it isn't as hated as something that had good ideas that were just executed horribly.

Most Star Wars fans miss the point of their favorite characters anyways, so I have no problem telling them why they dropped the ball so hard once again. That being said, in the OT Vader's Heel turn had already happened and the only thing that brought him back to the light side was his boss torturing and trying to kill his son. Also, I don't know if you've seen the Prequels, but one of the few things those movies got right was making Anakin's fall more believable by making him a deeply flawed and troubled character from the start before having him make a series of increasingly bad decisions that made him turn to evil, Shakespeare-style. Same thing goes for Vegeta, which you pointed out yourself that Vegeta was hardly a saint from day one. X, by contrast, has always been a paragon for the series to the point where many players favor Zero over him due to finding him boring. X is almost Superman levels of boy scout, and just like with Superman, you'd have to try REALLY FUCKING HARD to make me believe any Heel turn any writer might try to make him undergo, Inafune included.

ChrisX That games problems are more so of the graphics in the gameplay.

Slight correction, I once *tried* to revisit X7 out of curiosity, but that gate in the first part of the intro stage which you need to open by shooting the four "locks" infuriated me to the point where I just quit then and there.

U1GX X6 is still worse, atleast with X7 there is no retarded nightmare system that makes the already terrible level design worse, having a reploid mandotory to save in order to get through some parts of the game (Jumper to get through gate's lab 1 as X).

Briciod Crv actually my thoughts on which game is worse change pretty often. X7 is sluggish, awkward, tedious, poorly voiced and was, like Quarter Guy said, the game that killed the X series, hence why X8 and Command Mission sold so poorly. X6, on the other hand, was a big step backwards in terms of level design, means of offering challenge, level of quality offered by its predecessors (dozens of typos and bullshit level design), new ideas meant to give the game replay value and, like you mentioned, the poorly implemented Nightmare system and Reploids that NEED to be saved in order to proceed through the game. So yeah, both games are crap. But I’d just like to throw this out there real quick: X6 had barely a year of development, which is why it came out as the broken mess it is, a rushjob as some would call it. With X7, it had about three years of development, yet it came out this way; there’s no excuse for that!

I just checked mega man X7 came out one year after mega man zero, meaning they plan to do that dream sequence as zero having a premonition of Copy X.
