Everything starts with a dialogue... The Quad dialogue will eventually become a military alliance if it needs to be. It could even become more that what NATO is.........it could be more than a diplomatic and military bloc. Asia/Indo Pacific will be the center of world trade....and the Quad could be in a driving seat.

China is the biggest trading partner for all Quad members. Quad members are like minded on this point. You don't need Quad to distribute vaccines or discuss climate change but it's ok if they wish to. Quad is meant for its members to reassure and console each other on China.

It's not a military alliance. India first of all doesn't get into military alliances. They have a history of remaining non aligned. The other three have already been allies since the Cold War so nothing new there. China seeks to build it's influence, well so do others. It's normal.

In a nutshell, QUAD is different from NATO in a way that there's no boss (like US is in NATO), who'll dictate other members, and members will have no choice but to accept US terms & conditions. Now that's more like a true alliance, and i see more alliances like QUAD in future as compared to NATO.
