As a kid in the late 70’s I was in awe of Tom Platz. All my friends were idolizing Arnold Schwarzenegger, Lou Ferrigno, Franco Colombo, and Sergio Olivia but I was trying to be like Tom “Quadzilla” Platz. All through school while they were doing curls and bench press I was doing every exercise that I could for my legs. Still to this day I would rather do legs than any other body part at the gym. Platz is a true ICON in the bodybuilding world and will always be one of the greatest in my opinion.

I know your comment is very old, but it’s worth mentioning that a lot of new studies/old studies and new data suggests there’s benefits to purposely going knees over toes in exercises. That it’s going knees over toes that provides ligament and tendon strength that otherwise wouldn’t normally be gained. In fact, some of the exercises a person with chronic knee pain would eventually start doing resemble that of what Tom platz use to do. I use to think Tom was crazy and lucky his knees didn’t snap in half... I now realize that his way of training led to developing thick ligaments and tendons that other bodybuilders didn’t have due to never going knees over toes. It’s very interesting stuff, because he was way ahead of his time.

@@alexandero9936 I blew my ACL years ago, had it operated on and then successfully squatted moderate amounts of weight for a good few years after. Then one day I got a twinge in my LCL on same leg. I’ve never squatted with weights since. I sincerely miss the DOMS and sense of achievement from a good squat and overall leg session. Now I attend multiple spin sessions a week, which are hell and are the best alternative I can provide for my legs with minimal injury risk

I trained my hamstrings and glutes today, a posterior focused leg day. I pushed to the max, made every set count to the best of my ability. Came out of the gym drenched in sweat and I was really happy thinking it was good sesh. Then came back home and watched this video. I'm not sure now if I gave my 100%, hell even 80%, lol. Feeling like going back to the gym in the middle of the night. We may see bigger legs in modern days but I have doubts if we're ever gonna see another Tom Platz and his impossible looking feathered thighs. A legend, the Quadfather. Thanks for compiling his new clips and making a great video, as always.

@ you aren't that stupid are you? athleticism is a different genetic trait than muscle bellies and androgen receptors. bodybuilders might not have been born with great vertical leaps, great hand eye coordination and other traits that make a great athlete, but they were definitely born with great muscle bellies, muscle insertions, androgen receptors and skeletal structure to be able to put on 300 plus lbs of mass....the average man cannot do that if he tried.

Still the best legs in bodybuilding in my opinion. Realize that his weight was lower than the competitors today but his legs were way bigger and more defined. Nobody is training as hard as Platz did, I wish someone on the Olympia stage would. Not just once but consistently for a year.

Actually, big Ramy has the same issue as Platz, the legs are so huge that it makes the upper body look smaller even though it’s not small by all means!!! For years, big Ramy suffered from that but thankfully this year with the improved shredding and posing it’s all went well!!!
