All of these guys were gone by the time they went to Hamburg, so they're ex-Beatles in a way, but not as famous as Pete Best and Stu Sutcliffe. It's sort of sad when you realize virtually no one knows them aside from their old fans in Liverpool. Still, at least they have memories.

It's rather surprising how well remembered Sutcliffe is, considering that he couldn't actually play his instrument.

@@lawrence142002 I think Stu is remembered because he was young, amazing looking, had hooked up with a band who became extremely famous later on, had started the Beatle's hairstyle..and then..in the prime of his young life..his tragic death made him a sadly iconic figure..kind of like James Dean..but lesser known.

He was in town that week and he was invited. A few members were sad he didn't show up, others understood he would've caused a rawkus.

@@strangedaysindeed9 Maybe some day this reunion with Paul would happen, but...come on...that is not important at all. These dear guys keep touring, it was not the first time they presented. They are the Quarry Men, those who didn't became Beatles. The way people speak here gives the impression they decided to sing only that day and Paul refused to show up...Come on...Paul was there for other things like he always do. And The Quarry Men were there like they always do in several places...The idea was never to have Paul among them. Too sad there is always a person to crticize Paul for everything. And with Paul's presence ther it would not have been so cozy and peaceful. It would have became such a big event and crowded...It was beautiful the way it was.

No, he should not. Not necessary. Also about the members...it would be important to know exacly what they said. Maybe they only said it would have been great if he could have been there, but not complaining he was not. It makes a great difference.

That’s clearly true but would have come off as unseemly and antagonistic towards Paul maybe ending any future meeting. Diplomacy is the name of the game and it is natural to most people (John Lennon being a notable exception, but with so much talent, one can get away with more. That’s true of anyone down the ages, from Pericles to Donald Trump (his fans anyway), Beethoven to The Beatles to (sadly) Justin Bieber...

Tony That’s crazy!! I wasn’t even alive at that point, but my absolute dream is to go to those places at one point. Are you possible able to give some advice as far as which specific places I should visit first, how many days I should be there, etc. I live in Canada.

I went to Matthew Street in 1981, and there was a parking lot where the Cavern had been. I understand there's a Beatles museum there now.

@@fifthbeatle Not much to say. I accidentally stumbled on the street not knowing that it was famous, just looking for Beatle stuff. Then I saw some of the pubs that I had read about like The Grapes and figured they had hung out around here. I saw that sad-looking memorial on the wall about "4 lads that shook the world." I think this was late at night or Sunday Morning. No one was around. I figured the Cavern site was somewhere around. I had read that it was filled in and made a parking lot, and sure enough, there was a big ole gap between buildings. I heard they rebuilt it on the other side of the street but haven't been back.

Len Garry isn't a bad singer and he and Rod Davis are fine on the guitar. Oddly enough, Colin Hanton is the one who lasted the longest with them and he's the one who is the most inadequate musician. He ended up getting into a fight with the three Beatles over it and quit the band.

He was in town, got invited, but didn't come. I can't blame him, it's impossible for him to visit an event like this without causing an uproar and disrupting the whole thing.
