The Queen officially welcomed by guard of honour to Balmoral Castle in Scotland for summer 2019

Her Majesty the Queen arrives at the gates of Balmoral Castle and Estate in Royal Deeside, Aberdeenshire, Scotland for her 2019 summer residence. The guard of honour are formed ready to greet her from Balaklava Company, The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, with their mascot the Shetland Pony Cruachan IV, on Tuesday 6th August 2019.
The queen is met and escorted by the Officer Commanding, Johnny Thompson. Balaklava Company are part of the 5th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland (5 SCOTS) and the Pipes & Drums are from The Highlanders, 4th Battalion, Royal Regiment of Scotland (4 SCOTS).

I love everything about this: the uniforms, the precision, the music, the pony, the queen, all of it. It's all just phenomenal. But I have to say that the skit with Tim Conway and Harvey Kormann always comes to mind now whenever I hear the man off-screen barking the orders.

We were there in 2019, in Balmoral Castle. I was saddened to learn the passing of the Queen this year. She was our beloved Queen, we will missed her .

My thoughts as well..brings tears to my eyes, so proud to embrace my mothers Scottish line & to be able to get a birds eye view of this amazing process with HRH Queen Elizabeth 2 😇 such a strong powerful woman in her own right! Absolutely heart-warming at this time. To everyone involved, thank you kindly for your service 🫡 I also enjoyed hearing the lil ones voice on the side 🥳🫶🏽😊

It says alot about the Queen that Balmoral is one of her favourite homes.....away form all the hussle and bussle close to nature and for spending time with the family....the Shetland pony is special to Scotland and maybe a mascot for some regiment.....Il don't know what the pagentry means but it's probably traditional and a measure of respect shown to the Queen on her arrival

At 11:05 the 'brawl darling' (scottish slang for hunk) leading the regiment is Major Jonathan Thompson of the 5th Battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland and he does have a fan club apparently. He is now the new equerry of Charles III.

Enjoy this front view compared to the 2018 video, but sadly the Pipes and Drums are obscuring the best view - that of Commander Thompson. Love hearing the commands, only wish I knew what he was saying....lol

Didn't get to see the pony poop on this one. I will never understand how these beauties do what do they so well..amazing. Scotland is the last place on my bucket list...I better hurry up. Both are distinguished soldiers and already well known to the Queen. PM Scott Methven holds the position of Piper to the Sovereign, while Drum Major positions are rare and highly coveted.

Regardless where Her Majesty is, she will always talk with a horse, even a wee thing like this from her Guard of Honour at Balmoral Castle. In her 93 third year, welcome home to Scotland, a place she loves, just like her Mother and Great Grand Mother Queen Victoria. I`m proud to be Scottish and British too, may our wonderful hard working Queen continue to rule for many more years to come.

What I have watched all these days, regarding the queen's funeral is mindboggling. How solemn, disciplined, their ritual when changing guards, the queues, stoic people waiting to pay respect to their queen.....etc. That's something I have never seen in any other country.

I really love the traditions there. There's something to be said for pomp and ceremony. No matter what happens you have the queen holding you together. How do they stop that pony from pooping right in the middle of the ceremony though? I always think of Braveheart and Rob Roy when I hear those pipes skirling!

Having a bit of difficulty dressing the line today, but it's a shame that one company is all that's left of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders ...the 'Thin Red Line' at Balaklava and the 'Heroes of the Crater'.

Sign of the times I'm afraid due to budget cuts and not enough people wanting to sign up but least there is still a company left to keep the traditions and history alive unlike many other fine regiments which have been culled.

I can"t help it - they"re just as brillant or as gaga as the Prussians with their "Knüppel-music" or the Bavarians performing in their "Sepplhosen". But then again, it's Scottish, isn"t it? BTW: I do like listening to bagpipes, drums and rattles. It's awesome, somehow. ❤️

The Highlanders history is a long one. But help me out. The Drum Majors Battle Honor sash looks like the Gordon Highlanders as well as his Sporran. The pipers tunics look like the 42nd. And I don’t recognize the tartan. Is this the product of the amalgamation? Still an awesome display of the Highlanders.
