THE QUEEN'S SILVER JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS

(12 Jun 1977) To start the Jubilee festivities Her Majesty the Queen lit a Beacon at Snow Hill, Windsor Great Park. The Windsor Beacon was the first in a chain that were to blaze all over the British Isles. The following day the Queen and Prince Philip drove in the Golden State Coach through the crowd-lined streets to St. Paul's Cathedral. In the carriage procession preceding the Queen, rode the members of her family. At Templebar, Her Majesty touched the Pearl Sword which was preferred by the Lord Mayor, a ceremony dating back to the Middle Ages. Then the procession moved on to St. Paul's for the Service of Thanksgiving. To the great delight of the crowd the Queen made one of her famous 'Royal Walkabouts'. Accompanied by the Lord Mayor, Her Majesty walked through the streets from the Cathedral to the Guildhall. As the Queen stepped out onto the balcony at Buckingham Palace, after a day of pageantry, she was greeted by scenes reminiscent of Coronation Day. Despite the rain which began to fall, the assembled throng cheered their thanks to the Queen for twenty-five years of dedication to the role of Monarch.

My mother surprised me with a 70th anniversary party for the Queen because she had a weird feeling of her becoming Mummy, Princess of Wales in September and Woody.EXE gave her the royal title which was well deserved and I’ve become Queen 3 months later. Me and Woody.EXE are beginning preparations for our jubilee year in July 2024 as we celebrate the 2nd anniversary of our reign for Wales. What an incredible year 2022 was

I was 6 and my mum had a party for the kids in the street in our back Garden, (along with their parents). She made 'crowns' for the kids with silver cardboard with fruit gums stuck to them as the 'jewels'. Still have the photos of that time. Will never forget it. God bless the Queen, Long live the King.

I wish I could go back to 1977... and stay there. I was a teenager and they were better times. Before the current madness began. I look back with great affection. And look to the future with nothing but fear. 1977. What a year.

I hope mine and Woody.EXE’s first jubilee is as huge as this. It takes place in early 2024. I dread Wales being so incredibly crowded next year but Woody.EXE deserves this. I remember in 2022, Woody.EXE made his promise to serve Wales for 80 years and I’d become his Queen on my 21st birthday

My father lived in London, England between 1971 to 1982. So seeing this footage I want to get a glimpse of the London that my father lived in. The Queens 1977 Jubilee was a big event in 1970s London.

I was 20, and this was my second royal event in the family. It was even more special, as the Jubilee Medal was the first decoration I would receive.

I remember being at school and we could pick either a mug or a 25p coin to celebrate the jubilee. I went for the coin like most kids and was able to spend it in the sweet shop!!! got tons of sweets for 25 p in 77 :)

I noticed there was a difference between the royal procession in 1977 compared to what was shown on season three of The Crown. In reality, Prince Philip rode in the Gold State Coach with the Queen whereas in the Netflix series, the Queen ride in the Gold State Coach while Prince Philip rode on horseback behind with Prince Charles.

Don't be surprised. One of the manifold inaccuracies in the Crown - artistic licence might be how the makers of the show might term it...A deliberate distortion of reality to make a point...the point being " lonely is the head that wears the crown"...

I rember this day our school made us do pictures of the day and gave us tin of horrible sweets that had queen on lid. It was a greet day.

I remember on the 70th anniversary of the Queen’s ascension, I paid a very moving tribute to His late Majesty King George IV by wearing my funeral dress I wore at my great grandmothers funeral in 2016, all my fans were stunned by my fashion on that day and a few of my fans called me Princess Diana II. I was turning 20 years old at the time and little did i know then that I would be Their Queen 7 months later

My grandfather fought in Burma against the very-capable Japanese. Thankfully, we won (and we must not forget the Americans). They also gave South Korea a better life.
