Play never ending quest for the perfect grip for my Smith and Wesson Jframe revolvers. I think I finally settled on a few choices.

I viewed your video from a few years ago regarding the quest for the “perfect” Smith and Wesson J frame grip”. I’ve gone through several different grips searching for the perfect grip for large hands. You noted Uncle Mike’s Combat grips as your desired choice in Part 2, which apparently hasn’t change to date. I purchased Uncle Mike’s Combat grips online (considerably more than you quoted) and they are perfect for the Smith and Wesson Model 63 LR. Fits these large paws and couldn't be happier.! Finally found the perfect grips watching your video. Thank You Sir!

Thanks for coming back and noting that. Yeah i did have the combat Uncle Mikes in my 2nd video, at that time I thought they were a bit thick, but over time, i realized how good they are. If you watch ebay, you can still get them for around $35 sometimes. The Hogue Monigrip are a bit slimmer, and the finger grooves a tiny bit smaller, but they are my 2nd choice. For purely target shooting the Pachmayr Gripper a great grip.

I also like Uncle Mike's boot grips for j frames and for Taurus small frame revolvers. Great do-it-all grips... Fine for pocket carry or iwb. Thanks for the video

I love the S&W J frame. I've got 2 of them and I'm looking at a 3rd. With practice they are a very versatile little revolver. The grips play a big part in their various roles from a range plinker, trail gun, to CC. People new to shooting often find the grips they intially enjoyed soon becomes less than ideal as they develop more experience. As more seasoned or long time shooters age, we sometimes find that some of the grips that were comfortable years ago are no longer either as good as we like for their intended purpose or no longer as comfortable as they were initially.

That makes perfect sense. I was hoping to avoid having a drawer (or more) full of holsters and grips, but things change.

@@naughtystep285 Absolutely. Holsters are the worse part for me. They often look more comfortable than they are. I end up giving them away a little at a time

Oh yah, I have boxes of spare parts... Everytime I add a mod, I try to keep the original, just incase something doesn't work properly (Unless the original parts are junk or the gun is rare) @@naughtystep285

The VZ grips on the new Lipseys S&W Ultimate Carry are pretty sweet they could use a bit of checkering and need to be made available by VZ grips on their website already.

Yep, factory boot grips. I bought a set of G10s but I like the stock ones better. I prefer to keep it small rather than use bigger grips that might be slightly more comfortable. It's not a range plinker, ccw only for me.

My tastes in J frame grips fall right in line with yours. For years the Uncle Mike’s boot grip was standard on all my J frames. Now, I prefer the combat grips. Just a little more control with that pinky finger on the grip. Great video sir.

The old style nylon Hogue Monogrips are much better for concealability because the rubber ones tend to stick to clothes more and prints much more...

I put the hogue grips on my 638 , but in summer it would grab my shirt on hot humid days . This past year I got alamont rose wood , they look good and the texture keeps it in my hand and it doesn't grab my clothes. I remember seeing grips with a button that would let you get a full purchase, I saw it on used gun dude a few years ago , and would like to try it . Nice selection of J-frames

I like the Hogue over molded rubber monogrip on my Taurus 856 Defender three inch although I do wish it also covered the back strap. I normally don't like finger groove grips because you never know if a particular design will fit the hand but this particular grip fits my hand fine. Sometimes they don't. The rubber is nice for shooting because it absorbs recoil although wood grips look better. Normally if I get a set of rubber grips then they are wrap around with no finger grooves and usually those are made by Pachmayr I think the compac professional. I will have to look at Uncle Mike's grips more although I see where the J frame combat grip is no longer made.

I think that’s why I gravitated to these.l specific grips- the Hogue Bantam pinched my fingers together- the uncle Mikes and Mono grip fit perfectly. That has a huge impact on comfort and shootability.

After going through Altamonts, customs form Hudson, S&w grips of all sorts, and hogues, I ended up with uncle Mike’s on my j frame and L frame. I spent almost 2k on grips for both and uncle mikes combat grips are perfect. I like the look on my 360pd, and the L frame is growing on me. I managed to find 2 sets for the L frame. Super hard to find. Took 4 weeks checking everyday

I picked up a used one for $20ish for my 640 Pro. It's considerably better than the Hogue 60020 and WAY better than the Hogue 61000 that came on the gun. I can't find an Uncle Mikes 69007 for less than $70, so I'm going to design my own.
