Can't believe I didn't know how to do laces like this & put off learning how to do so for years🙈 🤣 Thank you for your video, just got some new docs myself and they sent me them laced up to the 4th eye only. They feel (& look) much better now Ive laced them up perfect thx again ✌

I prefer lacing both strings upward skipping an eye each lace, that makes it so there’s only one cross lace.

That works too but can be a pain to tighten and loosen up especially for higher boots.

That's referred to as MILITARY lacing, as it both LOOKS BETTER, and only requires cutting 7 strands to remove the boot in an accident.

This is actually WRONG. I was in the Navy, and we were taught the CORRECT way to do it such that there are ONLY the horizontal bars visible, and making it so that if your boot has to be cut off after an accident the knife only has to cut one row of laces. You start as he did, but instead of a diagonal and zig-zags, both halves should be equal - then one side goes up ONE hole then across, while the other side goes up TWO holes then across then repeat every second hole to the top.

Sorry, but these aren’t Navy boots and we’re not in the Navy. The video shows the proper way to lace Dr Martens as they were designed to be. The boots have been assembled so that this style of lacing will give you the intended look and structure of the boot. Dr Martens themselves have described this exact way as the intended way of lacing your boots. Idk what or who you did in the Navy, but its not relevant here

Lace code should just die... Wear what you want. I wear both red and white laces all the time
