@@kina7128 thank you for your comforting words. I understand jealousy creeps out of laziness and feelings of worthlessness. In such situations people should be alert erase jealousy by involving in some talent they can do better if not such a big garden challenge. Wish they grow a small succulent atleast on their table so it makes them happy. Anyways no advices cheers take care be happy

It has little to nothing to do with the video. They are obnoxious people who like to mess with people. They're bullies oddly feeling powerful hitting the thumbs down or immature & like to upset people for no reason.

I so want to dedicate my later years to my garden. I just can’t afford not to work. I’m trying to establish what I can. Recently bought a house built in 1905. There’s already many things that come up every year. I just need time to maintain and care for it more. No servants or money here to indulge my dreams.

I just loved both programmes. Thanks for uploading them together. Major Lawrence Waterbury Johnston (1871-1958) was a British garden designer and plantsman. He was the owner and designer of two influential gardens - Hidcote Manor Garden in Britain and Jardin Serre de la Madone in France. Both gardens are beautifully described here.

If Freud had been a woman, she would have many things to say that some readers might not want to read here. So I will skip that. Tree ferns. God, how beautiful. A little bit in from the beginning was my first thought of the “futuristic” death scene in the film, “Soylent Green.” Now, I see it through out the entire film! I cannot grasp what kind of privilege these folks must have felt they were entitled to. Anyway, thank you. Without this, I will never see it. and will try to “imagine” their amazing fragrances.

Just ran across the two videos and love both. Hidcote is my wife's favorite English garden which we have visited several times on our trips to the UK. We normally visit National Trust gardens. We joined the Royal Oak Foundation (which is reciprocal with the NT) so we are able to visit all the properties of the NT free of charge.

WONDERFUL video! I recently googled 'Lawrence Johnston', wondering about his namesake rose (shown in the video, with Blackspot, of course - even in England). And here's a video about him! Does anyone know how about the heat tolerance of Mahonia Lomariifolia? And what's with, "Many of these plants NOW go back to ones Lawrence Johnston would have chosen?" Why was there ever deviation from his plant choices?

The “Red Garden” as installed by the National Trust is just a mess. Perhaps now with the examples of Piet Oudolf’s borders and gardens it can be properly restored to its original design, one of texture, winter perennials and grasses.
