The concept of the quiet years is definitely a matter of experience and expectancy. As a woman who has never married and never had kids in my 30’s…. The experience of quiet years sounds like simply peace. Chronic anticipation is exhausting.

We are empty nesters and I just became a Grandmother this year and I have to admit that I do enjoy your podcast and I mainly tune in for Chocolate Baby Story Time. I miss my kids being that young and they were hilarious so it is nice to tune in and laugh with you all about your amazing & funny children.

I was folding clothes when Glen said “Listen, I don’t owe you anything! Stop it! No! Sit!” ….. I thought he was talking to Mrs Melanin. … My whole world stopped. I was so stressed out. I think I gave myself wrinkles and a few grey hairs😂. I know Glen would never but in that moment I thought he did and it was not good for my health.

I feel like my years are quiet in a different way. I never had a wedding or a bridal shower. I had regular interactions with men that didn’t lead to any of the aforementioned. I went through emotional storms and now I feel like I have peace but I wonder, will I have these. I wouldn’t be sad about not having something to look forward to. I learned contentment the hard way. I feel I missed those celebrations because I didn’t prioritize relationships or children and now I wonder, will the years stay quiet. Will my career be my life.

Good luck on the weight loss guys! I will challenge that an arbitrary fitness target can be good too, instead of a flat number. Muscle weighs more than fat, water weight, etc. can throw off your numbers, so something like "lifting 10 lbs more than I was capable of" or "running 1 minute longer than I can usually run" can have similar benefits without the stress of direct weight loss. Either way you'll succeed!! Have fun in Jamaica!! 🇯🇲

I’ll be honest, I think saying “boys mature slower” becomes a self fulfilling prophesy. Even if there is scientific proof, I think we exaggerate it further but not holding accountable.

I don’t know any books but I’ve worked in middle schools for a while, preteens will definitely push all the boundaries. You have to look at them like… what did you say?!?!? 😂 it’s definitely annoying but hopefully with boundaries and love they grow out of it hahaha.

Hmmm sounds like Yvette could use a restock on some no’s. I think it’s a result of women being socialized to be accommodating from a young age and that being the expectation. From the outside looking in, Glen feels so comfortable saying no and Yvette could probably benefit from exercising that freedom more. As a big fan of both of you I would love to see more of that from her. I think it would make Glen’s no’s sting less too. If it’s not a hell yes it’s a no. Thank you for sharing.

As you continue to bring the presence of God into your home, and center your families steps around Jesus -all these difficulties will go away. Pre-teen issues are simply outbursts of the flesh masked as "teenage issues". Don't let them slip. Fill them with the presence and ways of God while they're young!
