Today, we're going to take a look at a little slipjoint, that I wound up enjoying way more than I expected to: the QuietCarry West.

"I am the only Nick I can take and even then, just barely." Haha, I literally laughed out loud there! Great review as always.

Excellent blade! I picked one up for UK legal carry when they were on Kickstarter!

Hey Nick. I have a West too. Initially I was weird out by the thicker stock too but over time, it cuts very well anyway so I think it's not as much a hindrance as you expect. I'm also surprised you didn't list the disassembility as a plus since that's not common with slipjoints.

Good review. Keeping in mind that it is a slipjoint traditional, snail trails to some are called patina and as you said the blade will close without a blade lock. The main differences between this knife and a regular traditional knife is the steel (d2) and a pocket clip. Price is comparable to a Case or GEC or other high end traditional

Hey Nick - I love your reviews and I value your opinion while choosing my knives. ...so it would be great to see your take on LionSteel Thrill. I got it and I think that You would love it - modern traditional with integral construction and innovative/gimmicky clip. Please go for it :)

Hey Nick! What a wonderful review of this very little guy. I enjoy your reviews of slipjoints (legality). Please take a look at Real Steel Luna. It’s a modern slipjoint, Blade is under 3”, very nice drop point shape.

i used to hate snail trail but over time i adore these worn out looks showing much carry and use

Agree the 0.115" stock is too thick, but being hollow ground helps a fair amount. I also agree that the bead blast finish and the snail trails are, apparently, an acquired taste once they get worn (e.g. the Sebenza)... I happen to find it a touch annoying. Note, as of June 2022, Quietcarry makes the West available in other handle finishes now that should wear more acceptably. Great review as usual Nick.

You should check out the Real Steel Luna. In many ways seems like a similar design to this, but better executed, directly addressing a lot of the concerns you have with this.

Great review as always nick. I might have to get myself one of these, even though locking knives are legal here,. I actually quite like slip joint knives, in fact my first ever actually good knife was a case trapper. Or maybe not after hearing that price and how damn thick it is, but mainly the price.

Nick, have you ever had an Isham Bladeworks Blackstar to review, because if not I’d love to pick one up and send it your way

Considering it's a two-hand opening operation, it doesn't matter what side the clip is on as you are going to be readjusting your grip a couple times either way.
