Every year, August 6 is observed as Quit India Day, a movement started by Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi to launch a mass civil disobedience movement 'Do or Die' call to force the British to leave India. On 8 August, 1942 at the Bombay session of the All India Congress Committee, Mahatma Gandhi introduced the resolution to start a Quit India Movement.
