Regarding Harry’s comments about William’s hair loss, I think the deeper issue there is that Harry felt glee and satisfaction that William’s resemblance to Diana was fading. Clearly, he felt resentful that William looked more like their mother than he, Harry did. There are some serious psychological issues there.

The more I read, the more convinced I am, the wife wrote the majority of this fantasy novel. It reads like a teenaged girl's diary. Over the top, emo, saccharine sweet, oddly fixated on H's boy parts, bizarre miscarriage stories, bragging about military time (no wartime vet does that!) adding that unnecessary element of losing his virginity (reads like a wife mocking her ex- husband), etc.

Harold is completely oblivious as to how awful he comes across in his book. Every bit of the persona his family worked so hard to craft for him has been stripped away.

Giving his "kill count" doesn't make him edgy or cool, it makes him look like a straight-up psychopath. None of the combat vets I know or have known talk(ed) about that number as the act of taking a HUMAN life is a traumatic experience for normal folks.

My grandpa fought in the front line in WWII before the US joined to the very last day. He lied about his age to join the Army because he wanted serve the people in the world who were suffering. ALL of his close friends were killed. One at Pearl Harbor. I visited the Pearl Harbor Memorial with him in his late 70’s and it was the first time I saw emotions. He burst in tears. He’s never once told us many details about his time in the war. Having to battle and take lives even their own enemies scares most people. So his way of surviving what went on when he was serving in the war was not really talking about it no matter how many awards he got. It definitely hardened him. I can’t imagine him even mentioning how many people he killed in the war. I wish he told me more about it before he passed away. So it’s shocking to hear someone openly telling how many people he killed and being able to hold it together. But he has PTSD from a fight with his brother that was pretty minuscule??? I dated an army Blackhawk pilot when I was in my early 20's. I was young and stupid, so it didn't occur to me that it was INCREDIBLY bad taste for me to casually ask him and his friend one night if he had ever killed anyone while he was on tour. I instantly regretted it when I saw both him and his friend shrink at the question. They then politely let me know that that sort of question just isn't appropriate to ask soldiers who've returned from war. I was so embarrassed and ashamed, while at the same time I learned just how much emotional trauma soldiers bring home, and why they keep to themselves about what they'd seen and done oversees. They usually don't want to talk about it because it's a trauma. The fact that Harry openly brags about his body count makes me question his statement's legitimacy, plus his supposed desire to keep his family safe when he's now put a huge target on his back.

How he could even consider that uniform just shows how immature and stupid he really is/was. I am the eldest child of four siblings. I have had to take responsibility for so many wrongdoings by my siblings that I would turn up before my parents had even heard about the incident to take the punishment. Yes it was unfair, yes it was wearing, and yes it made it difficult to form decent relationships with my parents and siblings. As a lawyer I would be interested in your take on this. To have a legally binding contract, one of the criteria is capacity, which involves mental capacity.
