A Tatar bow? Of course it is. A tradition only truly lives if it continues to evolve. The Raider keeps the distinctive geometry and composite construction approach of the historical Tatar bows and marries them to modern materials thus enabling us - who lack a good deal of the skill set of the Tatars of past centuries - to enjoy it today. I am not going to hit a tea cup at 70 yards from the back of a galloping horse any time soon but I can shoot to the very best of my ability using this wonderful bow. Rob has taken the genius of past centuries out of the museum and into our hands to carry forward this tradition in our own age.

In my opinion one of the best designs ever made in the Asiatic recurve style. Beautiful bow Robert you craftsmanship is impeccable. Love the draw length. I wish I could get more people stateside to start looking at the Asiatic designs. You shoot where I live and people look at me like I'm crazy till they see my groupings compared to there hunting bows with a shelf. Great review as always Armin! Thank you for what you do for us as a community. Shoot well my friends!

Nice bow and thorough review. Regarding the naysayers and the arguments of traditional vs modern, I suspect that if you gave an ancient Mongol or Turkish or Tatar bow maker access to some of our modern materials there would be a pile of horn and sinew tossed out the window in seconds flat! They would keep the timber though 😀

Just started shooting this style of bow. I used to only shoot longbows but I love a shorter bow now. I have a 29.75 draw and have always struggled finding short bows that allow for my draw. I purchased the Bodnik Horseman after watching your review, and I love it because it has a shelf that has helped me make the transition. GREAT CHANNEL! Thank you!!

Great review Armin, fab bow, well done Rob. Rob's ambition to persuade more archers to shoot asiatic bows is commendable and is being realised. Asiatic bows have so much attention now, maybe because thay have a different and more organic feel than the mass produced recurves and flat bows many Western archers encounter when taking up the sport, especially with a thumb draw. Your channel plays no small part in this.

WHO THE HELL CALLS YOU A LIAR BECAUSE YOU PROPERLY CALL A BOW THE STYLE IT IS???!!!!! Materials evolve as does bow making. But what seems to not evolve are these people, let's call them "Traditionalist Snobs" who think there is only one way to shoot. One way to make a bow. One way to do anything. I have come across people in groups on Facebook, they take all the joy and fun out of a joyous and fun hobby (And I have much joy and fun in archery). Your response was nice, respectful and cool headed Armin, you are a good person, truthfully my temper would have boiled over, especially if someone called me a liar. Your example of the Damascus blade was great. Anyway, you are not a liar (especially if you are reading the paper that came with the bow). Great video, lovely bow. Keep up the work sir.

Good one by Paragon Bows...Raider seems to be a big size Tatar Bow.. brace height is also more than other comparable Bows.. people should avoid comparison of modern material Bows with bio composite bows, their making is different, keeping is different and their likings too...Armin perfectly answered and very well reviewed the Raider..Pretty and impressive Bow ... I don't understand the complaint. This is not the review of an "historically accurate authentic Tatar bow", it's not advertised as such: it's the review of a Paragon Raider bow, which happens to have a Tatar inspired design, or - for short - is a "Tatar" bow. I would think we're all intelligent enough to understand this, but maybe I'm wrong. Now, I'd love to see that comparison, as much as everybody else, so if someone wants to donate a "real" Tatar bow to you, I'm all for it :) For an more likely achievable comparison, I'd like to see a Tatar vs Ottoman/Turkish style, purely in terms of design features, so ideally a same brand/same materials/same draw weight comparison: pros/cons, maybe holding the arrows in the bow hand is more/less comfortable? stacking? draw length? speed? hand shock? vibrations? I don't know, you get the idea.

Small companies, kind of one man shows. And they got many orders, so it takes time but you get quality. It is not that they sit there and wait for an order to start building a bow. We have to deal with it and I am fine with it as I know what I will get then

Probably the same as any other bow of a similar poundage, shooting similarly weighted arrows. But arrows don't fly in straight lines. If you want the arrow to fly further in distance, you simply aim higher.
@clear_image_photos5477
@clear_image_photos5477 4 жыл бұрын
It literally depends purely on how you knock the arrow, what arrow you use, tips fletching ECT, and what you consider straight, between how you hold it and you anchor point, if your talking for competition or hunting purposes you figure that out with your own set up what drops at 30-40 meters may drop at 20 or even 50 for someone else

Hello Armin, Very nice bow and very good review as always ! But aren`t the speeds that you get out of it a bit disapointing ? I guess that the Kheshig and and the Grozer Assyrian biocomposite are more efficient at the same draw weights ? I have the latter two in my posession and the Grozer remains my favoutite one - and if it only is because of that raw, natural and historic appearance !

People built bow from the materials they had available. Then they found new materials and built the bows out of them. Then they evolved those materials and perfected them and built them out of thet. A wooden branch, a better wooden branch, bamboo, laminated wood/bamboo, horn, sinew.. they used THE MOST ADVANCED MATERIALS of THEIR TIME. They did not used horn/sinew because someone said that's the only real thing for a bow. You could argue that stone is the perfect material for a broadhead cause it's what was historically used. Is an english logbow a fake bow cause it's just a piece of yew? Is an entire british history a lie? Why do you lie, Armin, these fake bows don't shoot arrows in your video, you have a secret mechanism and use Photoshop bla bla bla.. I guess the only real car is a Ford Model T.

It depends on how we define a “bow.” Traditionally we refer to it as a bow because the limbs flex and form a “bow” in an arc. That’s where the energy is. Your right a PVC bow qualifies. Here’s the question tho. Is a cam operated bow like compounds and modern crossbows a “bow.” Technically they aren’t because the limbs barely flex and arch. The limbs only purpose is to hold the cams which act as a pulley that recoils. Almost no energy is stored or released from the limbs. Therefore in my opinion cam bows aren’t bows at all. They do shoot arrows and they are far more than effective. I thought I’d pick your comment to go on that tangent.
