A recently-discovered acetate disc recorded in Knoxville, Tennessee, circa 1949. The Rambling Hillbillies attempted to break into the local music scene between 1948 and 1952. They recorded several fine demo discs, and even got a coveted guest spot on the legendary WNOX-Radio program "The Mid-Day Merry-Go-Round", with host Lowell Blanchard.
Led by mandolin picker Hank Collins, the group featured Bus Baird, Jim Chance, and a revolving line-up of musicians, including "Shi" and "Charlie". This fine recording of "God Loves His Children" is a cover of the classic Flatt and Scruggs 78 rpm, first recorded in Knoxville at WROL-Radio in 1948.
