While I definitely laugh with the analogical intent of your comment, that's the problem with so many people though. They're more worried about ethyl based carbohydrates than proper proteins and a balanced diet.... both physically and mentally Too many sugars and carbs is what's wrong with our people as a nation and individually. It's the primary reason why the vast the majority of Americans are overweight and have been overweight for decades Just like with anything else in life critical thinking and balance must be first priority

Filipina POV on the father who was scammed in the Philippines: Unfortunately, the foreign son-in-law’s guidance/suggestions will carry more weight than the daughter’s suggestions if the son-in-law has been a good husband. I suspect the father will not listen to his daughter, nor will she want to press the issue. Old school Filipinos don’t behave as Dave seems to think they will.

Personally, I would take the 401K match and put in the 6% to get the 10%. Contributing to your 401K in the earliest years adds up really fast with the compound interest, and that's a HUGE return given the 10% match. If you're otherwise "psychologically disciplined" and are still able to pay down he debt in terms of your income, there's no reason not to do the match. If you literally cannot pay down the debt without that 6% of your income, that's another story.

Why is someone, who already has an attorney handling the case, call into a radio show for complicated estate and trust advice?

Because they don’t like the answers their attorney is giving.
@Trustbutverify2651
@Trustbutverify2651 17 күн бұрын
@@unaveragejoe7107 OK - but complicated estate and trust matters cannot be handled by someone without legal training, so ask another attorney rather than a radio show based on getting people out of debt. The up front cost would be well worth it - and pick the attorney you feel most comfortable dealing with. I've said MANY times this show would benefit by having real experts on from time to time to take calls like this, rather than the "personalities" who almost never veer off the baby steps. DR might be very successful, but he is not an attorney and I rarely hear on this show the words, "I don't know." IMO it is irresponsible to give legal advice in a call of only a few minutes to this kind of a very complicated estate/trust situation.

It sounds to me like the guy with the Philippine father in law is not only being scammed but is in a romance scam; its a female friend he used to know, he sold his house and is planning to go back to the Phillipines. That person is waiting for him to come with the proceeds from his house. Once he shows up without the money, that person will be gone; he'll know immediately that it was a scam then.

Could Steve and the original home owner do a quit claim deed to transfer the house to him and assume the mortgage with a refinance? Would that avoid the mess with calling the loan note or would that still be the same outcome?
@notgivingmyemail3381
@notgivingmyemail3381 17 күн бұрын
Short answer, same outcome. Assuming a loan and refinancing are different things. Not all loans are assumable (someone else becomes responsible for the payments). While this could work, most if not all conventional loans do not allow it. So unless it’s a VA, FHA, or USDA loan, it’s probably not an option. Refinancing (same borrower, different terms) doesn’t change financial liability to the new owner. A person also wouldn’t be able to refinance if property ownership were changed.
@RAnn774
@RAnn774 6 күн бұрын
A quit claim deed removes someone from the deed. His name isn't on it at all, so this wouldn't be an option.

With the abduction case, I think it’s kind of cruel to ask him to change his name. If he’s had that name all his life, through no fault of his own, it’s his identity. He’s likely going to question his identity anyway, but why force him to adopt a new (to him) name from someone that he likely doesn’t remember? Seems like that should be his choice. Not to mention, who knows the mess that could create for him if he’s established himself under that name.

Handyman business - you not only need to show up on time, you need to stay with one job and FINISH it before moving on to the next. But I don't agree that is all someone needs to do. I would never hire someone who is not bonded and insured and who has references. And I think it's very irresponsible to take on jobs at people's houses without being insured. We hired someone to work in our garden and he did great work until he mistakenly cut the gas line while my husband and I were out to dinner. He had no insurance and that was an additional $800 bill for us because we hired him without checking everything out. Lesson learned.

You always take the match. You just have to be disciplined and also attack debt. Which is obviously too difficult for some people. A 6/10 match is a no brainer.
@motoryzen
@motoryzen 17 күн бұрын
Well here's the kicker if the math doesn't work out involving taking the match while being able to attack that debt worth a crap meaning one is in an income crisis mode involving any and all debts versus actually being able to live and I don't mean eat out for food or having a Netflix subscription or even a middle tier class of Internet subscription each month at home I mean just basic life necessities, then no. That person cannot afford to take the match and that person needs to attack the debts like the debts owe him or her first Needs must come before wants... otherwise you can't call yourself an adult

I am still seeing a lot of people commenting on these Ramsey Solutions KZfaq Channel videos without posting a timestamp. Big hint people, it's a 2-hour long show and for some reason the editors at Ramsey Solutions who upload these videos never put timestamps on an individual color basis or as well as their advertising segments thus it is up to you all the individual to post a timestamp involving your comment to make sure that people can quickly reference that part of the video if they want to engage in any intelligent conversation. Nathan please do not listen to this.. if your employer matches your 6% with 10% that is a no brainer!! The reality is that you won’t see much difference in your take home pay as the money comes out pretax… it is so frustrating that Dave is stuck with his rules like they are written in stone. EVERY financial decision is unique and should be considered. It is unreal that Dave can still offer this advice when it is just unsound logic.

Nathan needs to get out of debt. $135k in debt is ridiculous. It'll take them much longer to pay it off if they try to take advantage of the match. Broke people love to cry about the match because of the math. If they really valued the math they wouldn't be in $135k of debt 😂

And it's not any white person's problem that the vast majority of time it is from Africa that this particular scam originates from, duh. It's also not the white people's fault that black males between the ages of 13 and 48 years old throughout the past 45 to 50 years in the Continental 48 continuous United States of America have been literally committing more than 75% of all violent crimes across most of the nation and those are just the crimes that were just reported by local news media Outlets as well as information involving convictions or arrests featured in local newspapers Are you going to whine and call that racist against black people also?
