Trouba was hurt this season, played poorly and is over paid. Nobody talks about how bad Miller played. Couldn’t clear the puck 2x in game 4 and they ended up in the back of the net. He plays soft and consistently turns over the puck trying to gain the zone. So be fair and call it fairly.

I have a suggestion for a topic. Their rebuild after Lundqvist was supposed to take at least 1-2 more years, but they developed early and started winning. Do you think if the rebuild just started hitting in the last 2 years, make the playoffs, then make the conference finals, fans would have more optimism that this team was improving and getting closer to a Cup win?

Ranger fan here since 1982. Trouba did not play well, not his fault they offered him that contract. We couldn’t score. Laviolette was out coached and went away from rolling 4 lines. Guys were beat up. I’m disappointed and very upset but are we really going to blame this all on trouba? He was definitely over thinking and constantly out of position because he was trying to be physical. No one else was.

As a die hard Ranger's fan since 1987 I was absolutely furious with how Trouba played during this series and I understand the outcry to get him out. IF the Rangers listen to the fans and move Trouba, it's only because of the mistakes he made during the Florida games where he inexplicably would move out of position for a hit leaving a guy open coming into the net. TO THAT END, that's not necessarily on Trouba, but on their defensive coach Housley, who for whatever reason decided for man on man action, which is something the Rangers have not done all season, at least regularly. If you move Trouba, you are also removing the subtle nuances that he presents the opposing team. Fear. Fear of getting run, fear of getting hurt, fear of a chicken wing attack. He's a throw back player, and provides part of that physicality that is lacking on the Rangers, if the Rangers trade him, they BETTER get something similar in return, otherwise it's a net negative. People need to understand there is a game within the game, additionally he is absolutely loved by his teammates, so remove him and you might upset part of the chemistry. The bottom line is that Florida was a better team. Period. Far better this year and the Rangers could not match their effort. Rangers need to simply tweak the team, add more AHL youth into their team and build into next years trade deadline where possibilities increase with some teams out of the playoff picture. Patience.

Kris Knoblach has Mcdavid and a German Machine up from that carried the team throughout the season and playoffs with finally getting some consistent goaltending and defensive play. Not taking away from his style and being a good coach because he changed their PK system and Dzone structure there. With those two players and Hyman being a force, its a little easier when those guys are performing (like our "Stars" should be). Laviolette is a very good coach but was limited with his choices because the depth of the Rangers is not there like everyone says it is.

How are these guys going to be at the Florida team in the next 5 years, they are going to have to find some other hockey players.

This entire team specifically the defense let Igor down ' the man got no help at all he held the ship afloat as much as he can ' he deserves better ' team MVP

One thing to consider is that we are roughly at the same point with Igor as we were with Hank when we gave him that ridiculous contract. How did that work out? We had Cam Talbot that was on fire playing behind Hank and had an opportunity to save a huge amount of payroll going with a very competent Talbot. Signing Igor to a crazy contract should really be thought out carefully. Good goalies are a dime a dozen. You don't need a generational goalie to win a cup you just need a good one.

Good things come to those who wait, the Rangers will win the cup in the next 3 yrs it will happen, all they need to do is get bigger and get a couple of nasty players.

I feel the trades we made before the deadline were some of the worst trades ever. I still say we should've kept Kane. With his playoff experience and we needed him with Wheeler & Chytil going down. On top of that he looked great playing for Detroit.

He single-handedly cost the team their season, and this isn’t the first time. Two years ago, in the Eastern Conference Final against the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Rangers were up 2-0 in the series and 2-0 in Game 3 when Trouba took three penalties, ultimately costing the Rangers that game and the series. This team plays east/west hockey with mediocre speed, skilled passers and beat up defence, both TROUBA and Fox played hurt most of the season.

I like Peter Laviollette, but, I've been saying all the time that I'd thought that he deserved the credit for turning around The Edmonton Oilers (regarding Kris Knabloch). I'm not, at all, saying that Peter Laviollette wasn't a good hire, but, I think that the advantage was that he knew all the guys in Hartford (Wolf Pack). I don't think Trouba is going anywhere. The buyout takes away money for the next 4 years that they can't afford to lose with the signings they have to make along with possible UFA's and bringing up players in the next years or so. The only thing that may work is if they trade him somewhere for 50% retention and I don't see that happening either. Trouba will finish his 2 years left here as the captain most likely. Igor, if he gets 12 million, he will screw the team for years to come. He needs to be at no more than 9.5mil and Laf should be around 5.5mil. Schneider needs to be resigned and I think they should sign him more for long term than anything.

Rempe needs to learn more. He is not good defensively and gets out of position a lot. That is why he wasn't on a "regular shift". I don't think he is on the roster next year. Probably a career AHL guy. Kakko and Lindgren are RFA's and they either resign both or resign one. They need to qualify them in order to get something back for them.

Zach jones is small and not great defensively. Yah he may break pucks out etc, but hes young, hasn't played in a playoff along with only playing less than 100 NHL games and less than 40 in the regular season this year. Thats just not a player that I would be comfortable with playing even though the other defenseman were not playing up to par.

What Tkachuck did to Trochek in game 1 at the garden was a disgrace. It showed how soft and heartless this team is right from the get-go. It was embarrassing. When your star player gets assaulted on the ice all bets are off. You do anything and everything to respond. If that' means taking a 1 or 2 game suspension so be it. Tkachuck grabbed Trocheck by the throat and strangled him and rag dolls him to the ice where he plants himself over the much smaller Trocheck with his and around his throat. That my friend is the beginning of War War 3 and the Rangers did nothing. Try going into Philadelphia and pulling something like that and see what happens. The Flyers make suck, but they have a long-standing tradition not to take any shit from anyone in their building. Most of the time you can expect to get a stick in the mouth while minding your own business in Philly this would have been Armageddon.

Oh lets cut the BS the Rangers gave me more than I expected and lost to a more better team in the Florida Panthers which had their bases covered so in that case even when the Rangers won the cup in 1994 there was a process and it started In 1991 Brian Leetch came up followed up by Adam Graves coming from Edmonton word by fact Adam Graves was just the beginning to something bigger so after Mark Messier was acquired from Edmonton for Bernie Nicholls then we lost to Pittsburgh in 1992 so in 1993 Joey Kocur was acquired from Detroit for Toughness along with Tikkanen and Mactavish for Defensive drawns Bukeboom and Lowe to settle down the defensive line and Mathieu and Noonan for depth that's the 1994 experience I experienced except losing with Mark Messier was inexcusable and not tolerated leadership and toughness with some grit is all that is needed to win sorry to say boys Jacob Trouba is not the reason or to blame for the Rangers loss its a team sport and there is plenty of blame to go around and those who disappeared know who they were

Trouba no charisma...nothing to call forth the best in the others....a captain needs to be the ultimate example for his teammates and inspire them....my grandma would do a way better job then him.
