I discovered this by accident. After a quick search on YT it looked like it was undocumented and since it's a noteworthy find there you go.

If you talk to Bernahl after killing Rykard he will say something about having inherited his brothers will. Maybe his brother was planned to be in the game and would have worn the purple version.

sad how neglected the alter garnaments feature is, really could've used more options, hell even recolored versions would've been good enough

Quick tip: If you have two of the Beast Champion torso armor, one Altered and one not, you can easily obtain the purple cape any time by unequipping your torso armor, equipping the cape-less Altered one, then swapping to the non-Altered one.

Ive literally noticed it was purple before and thought, "oh cool, purple cape, looks better this way" but never noticed it changed back to blue, in fact i only JUST NOW realized the cape was blue, i thought it was purple the whole time

The decorative filligree on the purple cape makes it S tier for fashion souls.

I wish we had the option to Dye our armors, alteration is nice, but I'm hoping in any future patch/DLC we get the ability to change colors and all that

For those wondering, no this glitch doesn't work as of now, you cannot obtain the purple one now.

The pattern and color of the cape are the same as the large tapestry hanging in the Red Wolf of Radagon’s boss room.

Yes I had this happen to me and I thought nothing of it until I examined the cape further, I looked at it closely and thought about how it looked to have less of a pattern on it, then I equipped it again and it was normal, really strange.

I use this set quite often and I noticed this by accident but didnt even realize it was that much different from the other variation. So thanks for showing this

I did this on accident, I had the beast champ chest with the navy hood then i altered and unaltered in and it stopped matching and i was so confused

Even better, if fromsoft in the DLC gives the ability to boc to dye ur armor pcs, giving more customization to the players, and we can use the crafting items to make those dyes.

Hope they do expand the "Alter Garments" option with more colors/patterns and other stuff to do in future patches or DLC, it could require some rare item or something like rare dyes, obtained say from a boss rush mode like Sekiro's *wink*) So much potential.

This video made me love this armor with the cape 2 years ago, and I really hope they let us keep the altered cape version with Shadow of the Erdtree by adding more alteration options or something like that. Maybe the purple section is being kept for a DLC armor's cape

Thanks a million for that purple version. Since I have this blue cape armor, it made me impossible to wear anything else along with the navy hood even if my def. is low (well the arrmor has very good stats though). What a shame though that it disappears once you warp...

I imagine it is because of an effect over the cape that alters its color nad give it that sheen, which doesn't load properly when altering it while equipped.

So I found you can warp or unequip, then once the default cape takes it's place you can just unequip it again, alter it to no cape, then equip and alter to cape to get the purple variant again. Would be nice to have it permanently but this way if you have at least 1000 runes you can keep changing it to the variant

weird, i got the armor from fighting him in farum azula and its the altered one. when i alter it, it turns into the purple by default and i cant get the blue one lol

Pair this with powerstanced Crystal swords or crystal sword + meteorite staff with some gravity magic, and some gravity stones, and you've got the ultimate purple Int Warrior build.

dude I saw this once when I was playing and got so confused. Thought you could only see the upper texture in certain lighting or smthn. Couldn't even tell it was purple instead of blue.

Superb, was made instantly sad when I saw warping would remove the purple cloak. Still beautiful, purple is my favorite color and you can bet I would buy it in an instant cuz I did that for AC: Odyssey when I bought that beautiful purple and gold filigree armor that also came with a bull to ride instead of a horse. It got bonus points because it was assassin oriented in its stats and that's how I like playing most game like this though when there's sorcery available I have to go that route.

Killed Bernahl before fighting Goodrich because my friend told me his set was good. Spent hours grinding to get the endurance high enough for a medium load (didn’t know about the great jar talisman) and used that set throughout the entire game. Best looking set imo and also very good. Also discovered the purple version on accident and didn’t even realize it was different

This happened to me one time, and I guess because of the lighting and the fact that I wasn't really paying attention, it made me think I was frosty for some reason. Turns out it's its own thing.

I somehow got the purple cape the first time I gave the armor a good look. I later assumed I must have misremembered what it looked like until like half a year later when I found a post explaining the hidden cape

I bought the strategy guide for Elden ring. It's shows that certain enemies have items with 2% or .5% chance of dropping their weapons or armor

Well, looks like this just became a no warping run.

Now this makes me wonder if any other garments can have the same interaction...

equipping and uneqipping, or fast traveling reverts the armor back to blue.
