The "Rast" maqam (scale) on guitar, which is one of the Arabic maqams that use quarter-tones. Here I demonstrate how to play it on guitar, as well as a short song using it. #guitar #guitartok #maqam #rast #maqamat #microtonal

It's took me 40 seconds to realize this was a microtonal guitar 😂

Am I the only one that notices that when he hits the higher notes, the notes are out of tunes af

I think you missed the point of the entire instrument AND this video. Hes playing a microtonal type guitar and is playing notes that are sharper or flatter than what is available on a typical guitar or piano

@@Dagger749 you are actually right, i just checked the tuning right now and the high E is slightly out of tune 🥲. I tuned it before hitting record but it must've gotten out of tune by the time i recorded this take. Typically this guitar stays in tune well, but I'll be extra vigilant next time. Thanks for the feedback!

Sounds great for my experience with semitonal. I just think it's almost impossible to get the correct/perfectly intonated semitones pitch on a guitar with frets. This was very, very close, though imo. I could be mistaken, but it's like the semi tones are a cent or 2 off. And I know that isn't the players fault as he is obviously very skilled and knows more about this type of music. Regardless, keep up the good work!
