Btw, 2fa doesn't help with some of them. I still got ratted with my phone and email connected. Microsoft also doesn't do shit because they change your security info and Microsoft can't change that.

Yeah, back then there was not really any other way of getting into an account unless you knew e-mail and brute forced password, which no one does anymore. Now there’s all sorts of methods like getting verification codes from Microsoft for password resets, etc.

this is pretty objectively false, classic minecraft accounts were incredibly insecure, there was an entire market where people would smart-bruteforce them and get access to thousands upon thousands of old accounts and selling them for single-digit dollars each.

@@wybel in terms of sheer numbers? no, there absolutely are not more accounts getting compromised than ever. i don't think you understand the massive scale that was minecraft premium account trading. you could buy dozens or hundreds of accounts to run bots on or use as throwaways to hack with or anything else that may have suited your needs. in terms of the number of ACTIVE accounts getting hacked? yes, there are now more than ever, because that's the only way to get into an account. you can't bruteforce them anymore due to the security features, meaning that the only consistent way to hack people is social engineering. social engineering existed before the migration, but it was unnecessary due to the existence of hundreds of thousands if not millions of available low-security accounts practically free for the taking. it's impossible for microsoft to completely protect against the powers of social engineering, no matter how many security features they implement, so it's now the responsibility of the account owners (us) to wisen up to the new ways people steal accounts. this is absolutely a problem with the fact that skyblock and minecraft as a whole are filled with children who have absolutely no experience dealing with scammers, hackers or the like, and not a problem with the migration. and to say the security got "a bit better" is a hilarious understatement. the number of bruteforced accounts went from thousands to almost none.

5:24 I heavily disagree, the admins already have a 2fa feature made within the server, and it exists only for youtubers. Nothing is stopping them from making it available to all players, or even at least to people with a rank, and it would solve 99% of all major rats.

THIS. Admins only care about KZfaq rank, even though they're already built a feature that would solve the issue. After coming back to skyblock after 3 years absent, I forgot about the rule against holding down a mouse button and got a 1 month ban from their advanced anticheat that took hundreds of development hours, but then I got ratted via the scam discussed in this video and was in a login war with someone in a different part of the world for about 16 hours and Watchdog didn't care in the slightest.

This makes literally 0 sense, and even if u count nons as 0 profit to the server, that's why I said at least make it available to people with a rank, so u can say they paid for it, it could increase rank sales too. Also the feature is already developed, storing the data for a lot of players won't be big trouble for them, as I'm sure they're quite experienced with doing that, so there is absolutely no reason to not make 2fa available to all players

I got ratted once and they legit just scammed someone out of a full sa set, I got on and had a chest of full sa in front of me lol. Luckily got on before I lost it, gave the set back, and ended up getting kicked from the profile later on(was a coop)

my friend just ran into this scamn yesterday and lost his mc account, he managed to log back on his account for about 5 minutes before the guy who got his account logged him back out and deleted it but during those 5 minutes he was able to transfer about half of his nw to me, the only thing i can say is if this happens to you and you are able to log back on if you are on a coop transfer all your items to your coop member and leave the coop, you most likely wont get your account back even with 2fa.

This happened to me 5 days ago. Luckily I got away relatively well. Changed passwords and all that stuff before any big damage could have been done (to my knowledge at least). After the scary moment of seeing a random login from a random country in my email. I felt so stupid (kinda am) for failing for that trap. Now I see daily failed login attempts from all over the world what makes me very insecure about the safety measures that Microsoft provides.

I was ratted when token stealing from verification was new, almost a year and a half ago. Fortunately they added me back to the profile and I was able to keep everything but coins and items. Two factor does nothing because ratting doesn't actually give access to the Microsoft account, only the token that the game uses to sign in. They then have a mod that only uses the token created from the verification to switch to the token's account. This is at least how it was when I was ratted. They showed me how to rat and I was able to rat one person, but I felt so bad I didn't mess with any of their things.

Session-ID skips 2FA. So unless Hypixel allows us a way of 2FA within the server, like KZfaq Ranks have, 2FA won't help at all if you get ratted

I must add onto this that there are parties of people with only 1 slot left with the same gimmick. They'll ask you to join a vc on a server they invite you to. Please, take my advice, at the very least check if their SkyBlock bot is real, the one on the server they asked me to join was an imitation of the real one, so I just called it out and dipped.

It would be nice if hypixel can add something like a 2fa step when you log in to the server itself. Something like a password's you can set up after you logged in to actually prove you are who you are. Since most people already have their accounts linked to the forums with their email addresses they can just get a notification that someone tried to access the account and they got like a 7 Days security ban to avoid the account being fully lost. and the only way for them to remove that 2FA is if they manage to steal your hypixel forum account and BS their way trough the security team to remove it. This way you got time to get back your account and also you know they have very slim chances of actually logging in to the server and pass the 2fa

why doesn't Hypixel add an in-game passcode lock feature for any game mode. Like you can enable or disable a passcode for a game, in its enabled every time you re-connect to Hypixel you have to enter that code to play that specific game. If you disconnect it auto locks (if enabled) and the ratter can join the Hypixel lobby, but cant join any games without a passcode. if you stay connected but leave skyblock and rejoin, it should not require the password, unless the player wants that.

I used to steal accounts in a game called Growtopia when i was younger and tbh you cant blame the person who got hacked/ratted that much cuz people doing that stuff is smart af most of the time so bedt thing you can do is just not trust people you dont know and dont be gullible to believe everything someone is saying its really easy to manipulate a person into downloading something sketchy and the person wont even realize so just really dont trust people you dont know 😊

@@leolestere microsoft and hypixel both need to fix these problems. its so easy for the hacker to get access to my account, and I can’t get it back because now its saying my hacker is the true owner. Stupid microsoft

TLDR: My friend got ratted and we were able to save all his skyblock items I had this happen to one of my friends but we were thankfully able to save his account. He was afking with his status as offline so the ratter thought that he had left whilst mc was open on his other screen. The moment he saw the log in from another location he asked me to help him save his account. Since we were in a coop together I told him to first coop soulbound all his main items, i.e. his hype, and gear. After that whilst the ratter still tried to get into the acc, I placed a ton of chests where he dumped all his items. Finally I had him leave the coop, so all his items were safe. The ratter actually reached out to him on discord and asked what happened to his gear. I had him tell the ratter that he simply deleted all the items since the ratter didn't know I was in his coop. I was able to re-add him to the coop after a week, to be safe of the ratter not closing the instance and thankfully he has his account safe ever since. This happened over a month ago for anyone wondering, sorry for the long comment.
