Feel like this song could be about departing the scene TRS used to exist in. The best way I can describe it is the “warped tour” scene. I remember so many bands from that time making songs that would talk about being someone’s safe space, but in hindsight feels like they were profiting on the poor mental health of their young fanbase. The first two-thirds of this song seem like looking back on those days and seeing them for what they really were. The last section feels like a more authentic and healthy version of the “I’m here for you” song. Like yes, music can be your safety raft. But also acknowledging that it’s poisonous to be complacent in depression or anxiety. Idk, could be wrong, but that’s my take on these lyrics. This song was much needed as I’ve been looking back on the 2010-2016 era with a different lens.
