The "Real" BEWITCHED House

On location in Santa Monica, California to visit the "real" Bewitched house. The home was used as a reverse model for the television series' facade.

The façade was built in 1963 for _Gidget Goes To Rome_ . The garage was already there, previously connected to the _Hazel_ / _Lethal Weapon_ house via a breezeway. They decided to keep the garage but thought the house would look better if it were reversed. When _Bewitched_ began production a year later, they decided to use the façade for Darrin and Samantha's new home. When the _Gidget_ TV series began the following year they decided not to use the façade because it was being used for _Bewitched_ , they chose to use the _Hazel_ house next door, instead.

The Bewitched facade was actually built July 1962. As of November 2023, the Bewitched facade has now been demolished.

very cool - i understand the garage on the real house is in the rear (not visible from the front view) and darrin's den/office windows are actually the real dinning room windows - of course, i don't know if any of that is true or false - it would be so cool if the owners of the real santa monica house would let HGTV do a tour or something grander along the lines of what they did last year to the real ""brady bunch"" house - thanks for posting! :)

it's sad and heartbreaking they torn down Warner Bros. Ranch. And the bewitched house.but glad we got videos like these to keep the memory alive

You may already know: there is no interior. The facade is literally held up by stilts. Here in youtube there is a CGI representation of what the interior would look like. The video runs about 18 1/2 minutes.

@@stevejohnson1321 Yes, Warner Brothers Ranch house is only a facade. I believe this is what they modeled it after.

I used to believe it was all real -- I was probably 12 at the time. Today of course I realize, a house of this scale couldn't support offset of the second-story dormers. It was a nice ignorant time to grow up though.

The phone? Hi Roxanne! The facade used on Bewitched is reversed from the actual house. From the front yard, the bay window is on the right of the house while on the left for the TV series.

Ummm it's not backwards. Lmao😂 It's not the facade used for Bewitched. It's a real actual house. The actual house the producers copied for the show except they reversed the floorplan.

lmao.....you can't be serious. This is the actual house that the Bewitched House is based on. The producers flipped the floor plan when they made the facade. So in actuality...THIS is more legit than the old rotting facade they just torn down.

Firstly, Bill's right. He clearly said in the video that the house used on the show was reversed. The house pictured here merely inspired the show. Thus it's the "original" house, NOT the show house. That was made clear in the video. Secondly, even if you were right (which you're not) you can't sue people for something that frivolous. In spite of what the media keeps telling you, not all "disinformation" is libelous. But it's a moot point because the information presented in this video is 100% true.
