Very well said. Now I wish I had gotten the variable cruise control and lane departure instead of the premium audio in my car.

I think not all music is bad it depends on what you listen to, obviously certain rap and hip hop with the videos that come with it are not good. Music exists in nature, birds song, sounds and rythmns occur in rivers, oceans etc so God has given us music in nature. I think music is wrong is when people start to use it as bad media or to promote bad morals

and what does that mean?

i love listening to hajj hassanain rajabali, but he didn't discuss music as a whole, rather just north american angry hip hop / metal culture music, no one ever seemed to address pure music without any vocals like some new age and trance tracks outhere which goes consistent with all tranquilities of life.

Forbidden music is the music that is suitable for entertainment and amusement gatherings, even if it does not arouse sexual temptations. "majalis al-lahw" = entertainment and amusement gatherings

To my muslim brothers, if you are justifying listening to music, you are lying to yourself. You refuse to admit it. Try and go 1 week without music!

Doesn't he know several Marja's are not anti-music such as Fadlullah, Saanei and Jannaati? Islam did not come to take away our joys, but to make sure our joys don't harm others. We have contradictory hadith about music so the effectively cancel each other out. The Qur'an has no explicit injunction against it. Ancient scholars such as Sharif alMurtada and his predecessors considered it prohibited to obligate and prohibit based on hadith. Majority of both sunni and shia stance on hadith is wrong.

@joobjooba I think Br Rajabali is referring to Haraam Music.

@muhibbullah92 it is scientifically proven that music messes with your nerves. It isn't just islam that says this. And actually, there is a hadith from Allah swt about music and musical instruments. Who is more knowledgable, Allah swt or the maraji3? Sometimes logic plays a part in many fatwas brother

i'm a muslim and this man does not even know what he is talking about, if he listened to music he would be more relaxed than that. many muslim scholars have ended up with the result that there is not even one verse in the whole Quran or any Hadiths that prohibited music. believe me these people are conveying their own self preferences that are not based on scientific grounds. just to let you know when prophet Mohammed migrated to Al-madina the people of the city received him with a song carrying an arabic percussion instrument called Def in their hands, if indeed it was haraam he would've told them to stop

Maybe ur too stupid to understand There is no science that music relaxes u But brother if u want to listen, go ahead no body is stoping u U also don't have to bring excuses that music is relaxing

fousefan pop First of all, thank you for calling me stupid, I know how brain-washed, complicated and fanatic people behave, secondly, if you haven't heard yet of CLINICAL USE OF MUSIC THERAPY, then this is your problem, because I know what you prefer to listen to already. Thirdly, this man is telling his own experience with music; it's not our fault that he listened to bad music and concluded that music was haraam, fatwas have to be based on research not personal experiences! Fourthly, I dare you to bring me just one explicit and decisive evidence that Islam prohibits music and I will stop this argument.

+Ahmed Hassan As a Shia, we live under the rulings of a leader. My leader says this: All songs are absolutely haram. As for the music, it would be allowed, if it is not suitable for entertainment and amusement gatherings. www.sistani.org/english/qa/01246/
