This is very reminiscent of a surprising number of v8 swapped classic vw Beatles and I’m all for it. Especially seeing this kinda work on a track instead of just in a straight line

Most of the weight is in the rear, so it's probably a chore to actually drive fast around track.

@@jwalster9412 the main difference is that this one's actually mid-engine swapped so it's probably not as bad as you'd think. With some suspension work and a good diff it would probably be a zippy bastard of a beast! Just gotta be carefull on the throttle though.

Alternative without cutting out firewall: baja buggy / sbr engine (but where's the fun on that?) Btw, the reason why some part disappear after blender editing is that beamng cared about mesh normals. And also material.001 problems, after copy and paste I always triple check

Again with you going for an excruciating level of detail, with the itb's you put on there. Like man oh man, your videos show things that you really can't see anywhere else, especially when people like Simulator adventures get the opportunity to really experience it first hand I'm happy to be back

Holy hell. Lol. This is nutty af. Glad you took the reins on this. Cause it's nutty, outrageous, and absolutely amazing. And the fact that everything seemed to match up so nicely, and that people have done things like this to VW Bugs before, or at least similary. Adds a real nice touch of realism.

Yes it’s the engine swap video! One thing I’ve learned from trying it myself last weekend is to always rename the materials json to something other than main.*. That gets rid of a lot of issues since it won’t mess with the vanilla materials of the car

My favorite car is the MR Covet due to how fun, and once modified in game, how fast the darn car is. I would love to a V6 swap, because it just looks like a V6 should be there, not an I4, and the Scinitilla swap, because that's the only thing that can Rev higher than the I4.

to get the interior to be double sided you have to in blender recalculate the outer normals and copy the whole object paste it in the same spot, then recalculate the inside mormals on that 2nd object. you then join the two objects back together and beamng will now recognize it has 2 normals for each side.

wait, are you saying that your solution is to just have the model in there twice? haha that seems very inefficient XD there's most likely a way to get the material to be double sided like they are for automation cars

Well you've successfully showed us all why it isn't a good idea to LS swap a fiat 500/Volkswagen Beetle style car. Thanks. Also, you could have use the flat-4 or flat-6 of the Hirochi SRB4. I think it would have fit.

Just downloaded the mod, it's super cool. Glad some people still like the piccolina too. Pretty easy to drive in low RPMs, but once you go pedal to the metal, the grip goes bye bye. Hahaha.

Would you consider making a wheelie bar mod for this body for the Beam Repository? I love the race version of the Autobello and it sucks for drag l racing because of that awful wheelie! Anyways, great video, can’t wait to see the next video

It'd be better to have a front ballast mod for the piccolina, the wheelie bar can also cause trouble, i have an LS7 swapped 200BX with a Stage 3 supercharger using the regular drag version as a base and when the car would smack the wheelie bar too hard it would do weird things and make it completely unstable. When i get it right the car can do a 7.0 on the 1/4, wich is fairly impressive with how bad the original one is.

The car that i love in beamng drive is the gavril barstow. That thing takes all kind of tourture, Ive put it out on the back roads of Johnson valley mostly stock aside froms some trans work and engine size i almost made it but i screwed up and high centered it. No other car takes the beating the gavril barstow dose without giving out. Even D series will give out when beaten engh time this thing though it just refuses to die.

I was trying to put the V8 and V8 diesel from the scintilla into the autobuggy at one point.. It run into so many issues.. It was fighting me at every turn.. I don't know how to use blender as well as you tho.. clearly. the fact things don't rotate off their centre is a pain in the ass tho. Also.. In my experience beam will recognize added and modified files while running but not directories. Those need to exist on launch(At least empty)

You know what would have been even better? Rotate the engine 180° so it keeps the original orientation of the flat 4. Then it would technically be "realistic" because you wouldn't need to modify the chassis much and you could theoretically keep the stock transmission and avoid trying get custom half shafts. But I still love to mid engine Abarth. Someone should do this with an irl Abarth and a Ferrari V8. It's technically not impossible because there is not much in the area behind the front seats.

look up nodeOffset or nodeMove as a modifier for the slot, but this will move all engines, not just yours. Alternatively you could move the mesh in blender, then use the new blender tools to import the jbeam, and move that too

EV swap is easy, basically the same process. Beamng wheels on automation cars is there by default, just select different hubs in the parts selector menu. As for the siren, I've only done it once... and I don't remember XD maybe I'll make it a video one day

Man, i'm so upset that nissan made that LMP, it was probably the stupidest choice possible and they did it all based on theory with no proper proof of it. I hope that the engineers took the project as a meme, because the dissapointment must've hit real hard, i get that you're suposed to try new things in order to innovate, but even rally engineers of the 60's knew better than to do that.

@@fillman86 Sadly I doubt it will get approved in this state, you can't have duplicated assets that haven't been renamed because then it overwrites the vehicle it's from so this mod is probably breaking the Bolide, next time please read the modding guidelines, I could list a lot of stuff here that goes against them. But sometimes they just approve mods without actually checking what is in them so maybe you will be lucky lol

@@agenty_gd hmm I think you missed the fact that it requires the correct file structure for it to affect a car. The file structure here directs it to only the piccolina. To put your mind and rest, I did a quick test, and nothing seems to be effected on the bolide :)

@@fillman86 If you spawn this first, and then replace with Bolide, it should affect it. Also the fact that it doesn't change much now is not very relevant, because you can't tell if the next game update won't completely change the Bolide engine UV maps for example, then this mod would make the game load old ones and it would look broken. I thought modding was a lot more difficult... I mean you edited out probably a few hours of things that you had to do but it seems somewhat easy.

most of the edited out stuff was trouble shooting, which is more of a thing you learn by doing it yourself. Pretty much everything you need to know for modding your own game is in here :)

@@fillman86 yeah now I just need a laptop lol. Rn I play BeamNG on the steam deck and there's obviously no way to get notepad++ or any 3d modeling thing on there. Do you have any suggestions for a somewhat budget computer?

@@goobner420 there's linux versions of blender, and lots of code editing programs too :) as for affordable PC stuff... I only buy single components at a time. Consider checking out @Ruben-Perick for that kind of stuff :)
