Idk. I think it's because he became justiciar that he ended up like that. Learning about the dark side of things will do that. Especially when you find out that the Golden Order that you tried so hard to protect is the one most corrupted. Imagine being the clean up guy then finding out that the people you've been cleaning up were the ones you were trying to protect and the ones you're cleaning up for were the criminals you were trying to punish. That would break you and you either embrace it or make it right. Either way, with vox populous, you will be perceived as evil. Either for joining hands with the system or going against it. You're left with being a monster and I think he fully embraced that. Similar to Mohg embracing his circumstances. Radahn and Rykard were just parallels to Morgott and Mogh. Much like how Ranni and Godwyn are tied to one another.

It's interesting that Renalla and all her children were really not that bad comparatively. The influence of the Golden Order though changed them. Ranni hated the way the Greater Will controlled them. She was the only one not manipulated by Marika. Though she had to unalived herself.

Hard press to say any path is the wrong path....in the dlc you kind realize the greater will forsake them and the frenzy flame is supposed to consume it all because the fingers are damaged and no longer connected to the greater will. The wizard guy in the cathedral makes it clear there's no saving anything.

@jaymca730 although interestingly in her defiance of the golden order, ranni basically ruined society as they had known it up to the point. She lowkey was the worst offender of them for basically starting the shattering (at least before the dlc which kind of solidifies miquella as the most manipulative, he's kind of like ranni in a lot of ways)

@@lostcarcosa7642There’s 2 Abductor Virgins next to Fort of Reprimand. And Rykard is known to have gifted the virgins to both his siblings. So that could be a connection with him and Messmer. I’m not sure to what extent tho since I haven’t found any lore surrounding it.

I think Messmer is more in Golden Order side... He is on war in the lands of shadow for the sake of his mother, and Rykard is against all of this Golden stuff.... There are simply, 2 different types of snakes😅

The crusade started sometime after Marika banished Godfrey, but before the shattering. So there is a large amount of time in which Rykard could've contributed to the crusade by supplying these iron virgins. The crusaders under Messmer were at some point after this shut off from the lands between. So no, Rykard most likely did not have access to the land of shadows, but he did most likely supply iron virgins for the crusade. Please correct me if you find anything that contradicts this.

@@boneman-calciumenjoyer8290 na i acctualy found a snipit from somthing that says he traveled to a land and found lady tannith there so lady tannith may be from the realm of shadow and thats when he traveled there and found lady tannith that might also explain rykkards intrest in the snakes when he came back if the theroy of the gloam eyed queen being a large snake from the realm of shadow being true the remnants of the followers of her could be something rykard also found in the realm of shadow the implications are crayyyyyzyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

@boneman-calciumenjoyer8290 there is lore about him traveling to a far off land and finding lady tannith before the shattering but after Godwins death what if he fled to the shdow lands to cover his part in that plot and this is where he discovered more info about the gloam eyed queen and when he met tanith I WISH they added interactions in the base game for some of this stuff

@boneman-calciumenjoyer8290 the wording is also similar to where Godfrey went after he was stripped of grace so both him and Godfrey probably went to the shdow lands after the major events in each of their lives that would explain why all of mezmers solders have Godfrey esk attacks and roars and why abductor virgins are there

If you think of Elden Ring as a Game Of Thrones type story, then it's easy to realize that the demigods are split into different factions. Ranni and Rykard worked together during the night of the black knives, but quickly ended their alliance after Rykard was devoured by the blasphemous serpent. I believe Rykard then just started his own faction and aimed for devouring all Gods. I have a theory that everything is influenced by the shards each demigod holds, making them more inclined to aim for Godhood or Elden Lord then they ordinarily would. I don't think Rykard cared about Miquella specifically other than to eat him, but he may have originally allied with Ranni to counteract Miquella's influence.

Yes all the demi gods were basically double immortal Before destined death was taken away they could probably only be killed by eachother or divine weapons type ish But after destined death was taken it was very different until the night of black knives took place

@@andrew-rn9ui It's clear from the walking mausoleums that there were once many demigods. Godrick is a distant descendant of Godfrey, meaning that there were once families of demigods. I believe demigods were far easier to kill than you think, and the ones left standing at the beginning of the game are the only ones left from an outright civil war.

Yes but Marika also ordered the demigods to be something otherwise they will be used as sacrifice. It could be the reason why Rykard and Mogh tried their best to be as much of a menace as they can be so that they can justify their existence and not be forced as a sacrifice like what Ranni did to Godwyn.

@@Toadnuts_ the dlc pretty much spells it out for us, these god types can split themselves in two or cast off parts of themselves, radagon is perhaps the faith marika cast off or something like that.

Well you are a mortal even if grace keeps reviving you so like Gideon Ofnir thought maybe you can't destroy a god like Marika without a divine or semidivine being helping you. In the basegame you either repair the elden ring, let Ranni kill Marika and take the ring or become the avatar of the frenzied flame an outer god and kills Marika along with alot of other people. Specifically goldmasks repair rune of perfect order seems to limit the abilities of Marika and potentially also her elden lord consort to missuse their divine controll of the world. So choose goldmask if you want to be elden lord without Ranni or risking Marika controlling you. But yeah it is explained why hitching your wagon behind any of the other demigods is impossible. Moghs plan flatout will not work so you will wait for eternity playing pvp. Rykard don't want you for you only your power to add to his serpent abomination "family" so let him eat you and stop playing that character to let it stay dead in his stomach. Miqulla wants to controll you so let him steal your heart and similarilly stop playing that character. I agree that it kinda sucks that no demigod other than Ranni can be the new god in any ending since it could have an intressting story to it.

Naaah, the goldens fucked up his family, father and specially their mother, while claiming themselfs gods, the dude just rolled with it until he was capable of declare war to that system and it's people, also didnt give a F about his great rune when he joined the serpent, similar to Ranni, who he helped, hell he was ready to fight Maliketh if necesary. He knew that his path is not for everyone, his rememberance says it clear, he gave his all for the cause, buuut i think he also got mad at some point.
