Sorry for the shaky video, guys. Figured GoPro's stabilization tech was better than this. It's not.
Fort de Vaux history: • Battlefield 1 History:...
Recently, I was traveling in France, and was able to visit a few places featured in Battlefield 1. Fort de Vaux was one of them. So, I figured I'd put together a comparison between the fort in real life, vs. how it appears in Battlefield 1's They Shall Not Pass DLC.
It turns out Fort de Vaux is actually represented pretty well in-game.
Hopefully you'll enjoy what I was able to put together. I'll also look at the Verdun Heights map in a future video.

just imagine having to fire a rifle in those small tunnels, a loud as 8mm lebel or a 7mm mauser would reverberate off the walls so much 2-3 shots would have deaf and experiencing major nausea. then while deaf and puking up your guts you would have to resort to hand to hand combat. and with the fluid leaking out your inner ear you wouldnt be able to briskly walk let alone charge someone with a fleur or a club.

This channel deserves much more subscribers and views. When other youtubers are just focusing on the game aspect and making videos like " EPIC KILL STREAK ON FORT VEAUX" or some shit, Flakfire seems to be the only one who didn't forget that these battles took place in real life causing the deaths of hundred thousand people, He is like making these videos to remind us all that before being a video game, it was a terrible war. Thanks Flakfire.

Awesome video Flackfire!!! The beauty of Battlefield 1 being set in WWI (though beauty is not really the best word I know), is that it forced me to learn more about the war - more than school history books ever began to touch upon. Keep up the great work!

Seeing greenery around the modern fort feels poetic in a sense especially when compared to the grimy and dead look of the game map and most especially how it might've looked back in WW1.

Enjoyed your video. I have visited the forts of Verdun repeatedly since 1987. You are correct that the first layout you had of Fort De Vaux looked more like surviving Maginot Line Forts. I also agree with your assessment that an accurate portrayal of Fort De Vaux is to constraining for a simulation. Major Paul S. Teague US Army Retired

The fort in BF 1 seems to be a mix between fort de Vaux & fort de Douaumont. The real Vaux is smaller. The room is well represented in the game. The French closed the doors and windows when Germans launched their offensive, in order to be protected. There is less rooms in the real fort and a lot of corridors, very narrows and where they fought With grenades, flamethrower and knives.
