So sorry to hear about your health issues and hope you'll be fully recovered soon, Juliet. Regarding your ride during the video... I've never imagined that it got so busy and crowded on the roads and trails in the English countryside. I can't imagine enjoying the experience of riding or walking in that hoard of humanity!

Happy New Year! I am glad you have finally started to feel better. I live in Pennsylvania now but I grew up in Cheshire and used to ride in the Peak District all of the time. My rides were all on the road though. This was a great video Juliet. That was a mad amount of people.

Good luck getting back on track, Juliet. I think Juliana has the right idea regarding approach to Ultra in Rwanda. Sometimes planning fitness and outcomes seems to be a setup for disaster and disappointment. Been there, done that. For me, it's a constant cycle of assessing and adapting to whatever life throws at me. I hope you rebound soon and have a Happy New Year!

If you're struggling breathing cover your mouth with a Merino Wool buff, it will heat up the air before it hits your lungs, it makes a big difference. A wee tip from an asthmatic. Have you been tested for asthma, you may have cough variant asthma, not all asthmatic have a wheeze.

Great to see you enjoying being back on a bike 😁 The UK's population has increased quite a lot in recent times, sadly there hasn't been an increase in beauty spots so overcrowding will be norm I guess, the car parks for the popular walks close to me all fill up quickly on a weekend.

Happy New Year J and wishing you a speedy recovery. I'm pretty passed off too as I was so looking forward to seeing footage of your Andes Ultra having spent some time living and travelling in South America in the 90s and camping and hiking in the Andes too. Hope you manage to reschedule for next year perhaps. I've had a similar chesty cough recently and empathise with the whole being knackered from constant coughing and then trying to ride it off. Is the Juliana you speak of the legendary Juliana Bűhring by any chance? What a partnership that would be! Get well soon and keep on keeping on in 2023. You rock and have kept me smiling and positive in what has been my own annus horribilis.

I feel your pain. I did a big race (Tour de Tucson in AZ) 102 miles. Race was before thanksgiving and trained and did ok. Then got stomach flu over thanksgiving, head cold after thanksgiving, and strep throat over Christmas. Had such big plans for Christmas on the bike. I think I’m back to 100%. Just trying to get my motivation back to get back on the bike. Sickness is making me gun shy tbh and being a teacher around sick kids doesn’t help. Hope you feel better soon.

So incredibly sorry to hear that you've been through such aches and pains this past few months. As much as we all would want to see more action from you I'd still recommend you to tread carefully and settle for short outings; Maybe consider some alternative vlog ideas or chatty videos for a while! Those are always very much appreciated 😄 And if you genuinely intend to ride an ultra in Rwanda 🇷🇼 in 30 days time well, I guess there's no stopping you anyway 😁 But I'd rather stay home for a little longer if I were you really, just so you feel better. Juliet, you're a treasure. Don't feel you have to push yourself too hard to make up for lost time due to your recent illnesses. The fitness will come back in time. Side note: I listen to Leonard Lee a lot. He's a cameraman by trade if I'm not mistaken, and recently, he's been using a 360 deg. stick to film himself while riding. It allows him to talk, breathe, and steer, all at the same time. Have you considered using one as well? It could save your arm strength for more important things - like holding the bars with both hands. Maybe it's the Uncle in me, but I fear for your safety when you film yourself riding over rough terrain. Good luck in Rwanda.

I'm so sorry you're having these issues. Covid-19 hit me in exactly this way in April of 2020. I wish you a recovery. The only thing that has helped with the energy levels was low dose Naltrexone, 4.5 mg. I have extensive post-covid recovery experience and have been to the University of North Carolina covid recovery clinic. Send me a message if you want some advice. I still use an albuterol inhaler to this day.

Struck down twice since the start of december, tried climbing back on the bike and it set me back again, ... take it easy for a few more days. Long slow rides, and especially ones with climbs!!!! add stress of some sort and your body is still obviously 'coping' with the stress of the virus.... all types of stress just compound.... we all do it... just give your body time, it is the quickest way to recover, frustrating as hell, but otherwise you leave yourself open to the next thing floating around. It's the same as training, the bigger the block the more the recovery!! ( We all know this I know, just hard to implement)

Juliette, get well first kid! I am feeling your pain - in your chest, your lungs and the legs! Not sure a winter's ride is what you really need!? Maybe some turbo training done in the sunshine outside. You have been a UK cycling celeb for 20 years. More recently a KZfaq star & cycling influencer! You have put out superb and varied content over many years now which must have received millions of views! With so many young people, especially young girls/women watching your content; like it or not - you are a role model for all of your followers and the greater cycling community. So, Juliette.... Please put a bell on your bike to let people know you're coming! People get used to hearing a cycling bell they automatically move to the side. It is a cyclist's job to let walkers and other cyclists know you are there! And, you are a professional cyclist! No.2. please put some lights on your bike! Every single cyclist should use bike lights for every single ride. Daytime bike lights are an absolute essential! They alert other road users so much further in advance than if you don't use them! As an influencer - it is up to guys like you to push the message of safety in all areas of cycling. A bell is an must for every single cyclist, no matter what bike you're riding. You can let other trail users much further in advance that you are coming. Walkers get pissed off because cyclists either don't let them know or let them know when they are within 10m. That's just a piss take and leads to hatred of cyclists. The UK's hatred for cyclists doesn't need any more fuel for their fire! And using daytime bike lights should become a must for every single cyclist. Any adult not using daytime lights needs to have a firm talking to! The difference in ability to see oncoming riders for drivers is off the charts! Again, as a role model - YOU using lights during the daytime, I guarantee you will save the lives of many cyclists! And will spread the word through other influencers who will do the same. It is the underlying messages that professionals like yourselves send that really makes the difference! Rant over! Love love Love your content, but get well first, girl. x Be well.

I thought you hadn't been posting for a bit, and I have been watching less. You're too right about crowds in the Peak District. I was once unwise enough to go for a walk in Lathkill Dale on Easter Sunday. There were hundreds of people literally everywhere and I got stuck behind a seemingly endless crocodile of elderly people seemingly doing a mass audition for a remake of One Foot in the Grave. The path was narrow and they weren't very keen on letting me past but pass I did and eventually I reached the front. Then I got a patronising and condescending lecture from the Walks Leader who did not recognise that I wasn't in his party and he prattled on about walking in single file and not overtaking the Walks Leader. KZfaq probably wouldn't like me say what I said to him, but Ramblers!!! The same everywhere. They are just as bad in my town. I bet they all read the Mail or Express, watch CountryFile and vote Conservative. And hate cyclists.

It’s busy in the Peak District often but how do you think those of us who call it home feel? There’s still no need for the sort of insulting descriptions you give though it is exactly the sort of attitude that makes people with other recreational pastimes dislike cyclists and other users. Just share!

You sound identical to me apart from the COVID. Had back to back viruses, lost voice, almost 8 weeks of it.

Get well soon. Please keep it zone 1 ❤ I also understand why my auntie goes out walking 6am. To avoid people even in winter 🥶
