As a new player I can tell you it’s hard to get good at the game. It takes time and you usually run into someone who you wreck or a crew with 1000 hours that smokes you in 30 seconds.Neither situation helps you improve. A normal person is not going to get away with solo slooping either. You really need a crew starting out and that’s also hard to get. Open crew is complete garbage and a waste of time. 90% of the time you spawn into a burning boat with no supplies. Hard to find someone with mics which blows my mind because it’s not a game you can play without communication. Everyone wants to be on cannons/board and no one wants to help with sails on big boats. All those things make it very hard for new players to get into the game.

When i first started playing SoT i honestly hated how all my hard work of finding loot and skulls was immediately taken from me, now i try everything in my being to steal everything and not give a shit cuz its a couple of pixels

I have like 10-15 friends that stopped playing because of PvP and all of them said they’d come back if there were PvE servers you could select. I don’t think it would hurt the game, just add more players for the lads who want to explore and make friends rather than fight and steal. I don’t think PvP is bad, but a lotta people just don’t wanna bother with it. If I was solo slopping and a galleon wanted to chase I wouldn’t even care enough to even try to fight. I’d just dump the loot and log off onto another game. I like naval combat, I just think CQC is boring and favored for numbers. Nobody wants to play with me anymore cause they all hate the PvP portion, I don’t hate it, I’m just tired of it. It gets old

Random comment, but is anyone else fed up with hg matchmaking? Ever since becoming level 50 with the guardians, 93% of my battles have been with a player who already has acquired a curse, and then there is me who’s only halfway there.

PvP is the best part of the game, in Australia you can sail for hours and find no one...

I don’t get why people hate the pvp side. It’s great when you on an island you see a ship coming so all hand on deck and you get out of there or if you feel like you have enough supplies prepare for battle. And ships can be seen from afar so if you get snuck up on that’s on your crew

The real reason it’s dieing is because of sweats if they removed pvp some people would hate it but it would probably help the game grow hugely

Listen man you have a really good game awareness but man. When you board please try to rely less on the sword dash. It's really not that good. It forces you to commit which is really bad when everyone on that gally has blunders.

I mean ill admit to getting frustrated when im stacking fort of the damned in a 4 ship alliance only to have two double gunning takers able to kill over ten people coming at them on the island multiple times before we finally kill them only for them to come back on their sloop and sink all 4 of our ships at the same time. What's the reason people have stopped playing it simply because of the griefers a lot of his PVERS don't want to deal with Force PVP and so we refuse to play now this is the reason the game is dying and it won't change until they decide to add PVE only servers or give us the option to turn off PVP in general

Meanwhile you've got nolifers like this with thousands of hours who know every trick in the book and get sadistic pleasure from ruining other players experience. The only reason Rare don't add PvE servers is because of their personal relationships with toxic bigname streamers whose content depends on farming regular players for entertainment.

It's rare who are trying to push pvp out of the game.. updates like being able to change the curtains and bed on your ship. And they add something new that ships drop when they sink, it sells for 300.. they dont want us sinking players. Season 8 will remove curse balls and chainshots I bet
