Pain's reward is fun here. Play it, bid 8 life - setting you at even and a 2 mana draw 4. If anyone wants to stop you from drawing 4 cards, they have to bid 9, and take minimum 17 damage :P

This commander can be explosive, but it doesnt slows gameplay, on the contrary giving cards to you oponents always generate crazy games. I think i found my first monoblack commander.

I think its kinda funny how Urabrask, The Heretic Praetor slightly counteracts this by forcing all its opponents to exile instead drawing their first card on the draw step.

In regards to the Peer Into the Abyss. It's exactly because the card also makes the opponent lose half their life that it's good against lifegain. Opponent on a 100 life? Only takes 50 cards left in their deck to still kill them, which is a hell of a lot of wiggle room to get to it.

This Card is the perfect addition for my Nekusar Deck

This is a perfect fit for my Seizan forced draw deck!

I immediately threw this card into my Oloro deck and the amount of lifegain combos in it have been so incredibly legit. Just last night I had Sheoldred, alhammarret's archive, and Rhystic Study on board. Anyone who didn't pay the one gave me 2 cards and 8 life. I built up a twelve card hand to follow up on the next turn with Windfall and dealt 24 damage to the rest of the pod, drew 24, gained 48 life. Went into Exquisite Blood and Aetherflux Reservoir to bolt the rest of the pod for good.

Peer into the abyss on yourself draw like 40 cards go down to 20 then sheoldred's triggers resolve on the 40 cards drawn and you go up 80 to 100

give your enemies a vilis broker of blood and they will thank you im sure....

I'm really intrigued by this one, looks like it'll be fun to run!

For someone to survive this paired with Peer Into The Abyss, they would need at least 6 more than double their library in life. Peer cuts their life in half, rounded up, guaranteed, while Sheoldred essentially makes them lose their remaining library in life. 80 cards left means they lose 80 life on top of having their life cut in half. So to survive would require at least 162 life, and would still doom them, leaving them with only 1 life, which is gone when their turn starts and they draw. So to survive through their next turn would require at least 166 life (166/2=83, leaving them with 3 life, letting them survive their draw step with 1 life). Obviously this means that the longer the match lasts, the less life they need to survive to actually do their next turn (20 cards left needs 46 life to survive their next draw). While that does mean it is definitely survivable, in actual play, when you're doing more than just playing Peer while Sheoldred is out, and when its not 1v1, they would need a lot more life in practice to survive, probably closer to 2.5 times their library's remaining size (80 cards requires 166 to survive. At 200, you'd be left with 20 life, and with Sheoldred out, which is only 10 cards drawn. Not as much as it sounds). So no, not a guaranteed kill, at least not against good life drain decks, self mill decks, or late into the game, but it will still leave them on the verge of death more often than not.

It pairs with Phyrexian Arena insanely well. Getting card and life advantage in a mono-black deck wasn't something I expected to be that easy.

You forgot about Mindcrank while not a 1-card OK combo it will cause more damage with the commander and some of the other cards that are in the deck.

Anyone else think of the card necrologia? 3bb in your end step, pay all but 1 of your life, draw that many, nearly double your life total?

If I'm not mistaken, Necrologia + having Sheoldred in play allows you to draw an absurd amount of cards & potentially (almost) double your life total Alternatively playing Nefarious Lich + Sheo in play + drawing a card = deck yourself Alternatively again, Lich's Mastery + Sheo in play + drawing a card = deck yourself safely (unless the Mastery is removed) And then Sheo + Well of Lost Dreams + Skirge Familiar allows you to draw out your entire library in a controlled fashion Each of these benefits from having a Sanguine Bond--- or its multiple relatives--- or a Psychosis Crawler in play. With as much card draw as the deck wants to do, you might not even need to tutor these up, despite black having almost all the nicest tutors. Just protect Sheoldred and then gamble with drawing out most of your deck for the win. She's not super great but I do like drawing cards 👌

This turns vilis’ activated ability into B: target creature gets -1/-1 until EOT, gain 2 life, draw 2 cards. Insane

With all life gaining in this deck you can easily run Aetherflux Reservoir to finish things faster.

I know its not going to be budget, but I really hope it is so I can put it into my Nekusar deck (which is a group draw deck, not a wheel deck).

Eldritch Pact would also go great in this deck. If you want an alternative for Peer into the Abyss. Exciting commander :D
