My takeaway from the whole story. Greed. Doesn’t matter how much 1 person has, they just want more & then more again. If the Gucci family were just happy with what they had (which was enough for anyone to live comfortably) then the Gucci company would still be with the Gucci family to this day.

Years ago I watched a documentary about Maurizio’s death, it was fascinating to learn about the family mess involved, but I appreciate how this highlights the business aspect of Gucci’s story as well - not just the family drama. While many don’t appreciate how far Gucci has stepped away from its traditional (sexy) roots, the new direction has appealed to millennials world wide, propelling Kering’s earnings to $20.1 billion in 2021, up 35.2% from 2020.

Right now under Michele, he constantly goes back to the "Gucci by Tom Ford" era archives and picks out a thing or two that made Gucci popular; If it sells why ever not?!
